Lawrence Eagleburger calling for US air strikes on Syria /CNN
Do you believe this? The neo-con war map for the middle east gets rolled out the same way no matter what happens. Syria didn't have anything to do with this. Even the PM of Lebanon is not suggesting anything of that sort. But the vile, evil THUGS are going to try and exploit this anyway. Stay tuned to see if the Satanic cabal talks DUMBASS into bombing Syria.......

8. Here's a Truthout piece. Eagleburger comments on Syria 2003
Now this headline suggests Eagleburger doesn't want the US to bomb Syria. But when you read it, it sounds more like he doesn't think Bush can get away with it at that time......

Lawrence Eagleburger: Bush Should be Impeached if He Attacks Syria
By James Hardy, Political Editor
Mirror UK

Monday 14 April 2003

President Bush warned Syria last night not to harbour any fleeing Iraqi leaders and insisted that Damascus has chemical weapons.

But he stopped short of threatening military action, insisting: "They just need to co-operate."

Speaking to reporters after returning to the White House from Camp David, he said: "We believe there are chemical weapons in Syria.

"First things, first. We're here in Iraq now and the thing about Syria is we expect co-operation."

Mr Bush's warning followed earlier comments by a former US foreign policy chief that the president should be impeached if he attacks Syria.

Lawrence Eagleburger, Secretary of State under George Bush Senior, said American public opinion would not tolerate action against Syria or Iran.

He was speaking as Colin Powell, the current Secretary of State, ramped up the pressure on Syria not to shield Saddam Hussein or his cronies.

Washington hawks are spoiling for a fight with Syria and Iran following the collapse of the Iraqi regime.

Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld yesterday said there was "no question" that Syria was harbouring senior Iraqi figures. But Mr Eagleburger, who accused Syria of having an outrageous record on terror, said an extension of the war was unthinkable.

"You saw the furore that went on before the President got sufficient support to do this," he said. "This is still a democracy and public opinion rules. If George Bush decided he was going to turn troops on Syria now and then Iran he'd be in office about 15 minutes.

"If President Bush were to try it now, even I would feel he should be impeached. You can't get away with that sort off thing in a democracy."

Foreign Office minister Mike O'Brien arrives in Damascus today to tell Syria it has nothing to fear if it shuns terror and refuses to harbour Iraqi leaders.

President Assad denies any links to terror groups.

Neo-con Plans for Syria
Friday, May 21, 2004

The best way to understand neoconservative plans for Syria is by following David Wurmser, who is Vice-president Dick Cheney's adviser on Syrian policy. A pro-Likud ideologue, he is an advocate of pre-emptive war against Syria and Hezbollah, a position favored by other neocons, such as Douglas Feith, John Bolton, Richard Perle and Eliot Abrams.

David Wurmser has participated in several key reports outlining the neoconservative agenda in the Middle East. See the IRC. In 1996 he helped write a report for Israel's Likud party that urged Israel to break off then-ongoing peace initiatives. The report, which was titled "A Clean Break: A New Strategy for Securing the Realm" and was published by the Institute for Advanced Strategic and Political Studies (an Israeli- and DC-based think tank) advised then-Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu "to work closely with Turkey and Jordan to contain, destabilize, and roll-back" regional threats, help overthrow Saddam Hussein, and strike "Syrian military targets in Lebanon" and possibly in Syria proper. Coauthors of the report included Richard Perle, Meyrav Wurmser, and Douglas Feith.

In 2000, Wurmser worked on a strategy document published by Daniel Pipe's Middle East Forum and Ziad Abdelnour's U.S. Committee for a Free Lebanon that advocated a wider U.S. role in Lebanon. The study, "Ending Syria's Occupation of Lebanon: The U.S. Role?" called for the United States to force Syria from Lebanon and to disarm it of its alleged weapons of mass destruction. It also argued that "Syrian rule in Lebanon stands in direct opposition to American ideals" and criticized the United States for engaging rather than confronting the regime. Among the documents signers were several soon-to-be Bush administration figures, including Elliott Abrams, Douglas Feith, Michael Rubin, and Under Secretary of State for Global Affairs Paula Dobriansky. Other signers included Richard Perle, Michael Ledeen, and Frank Gaffney.

Richard Perle has been a leading advocate of action against Syria. He said he "hope(d)" the United States would itself take action against Damascus, particularly if it turned out that Syria was acting as a financial or recruiting base for the insurgency in Iraq.

and anti-aircraft systems gives the Israelis a direct flight path to Iran. These neo-con slimeballs are going to pull Syria into this conflict in any way possible.
