Damn.. the wildfires in S.Ca have merged..Big Bear appears safe
so far.. but with them merged, they can do a LOT of moving...and fast...

they are hoping that in places the two fires might burn "into each other" and cut down on some of the damage..

An elderly couple is missing since Tuesday, and may have been caught by the fire :(..

Please..let it rain...with no lightning.. (I know that's asking for a lot )

2. Rain?
You're kidding, right?

The next chance we have at significant rain is probably December.

Yucca Valley -- A 53,000-acre wildfire crept through tinder-dry Mojave Desert brush and Joshua trees Friday to within a half-mile of another blaze in the San Bernardino National Forest, threatening to merge into an unpredictable wave of flame that could burn its way toward a mountain full of dead trees.

Latest Emergency Fire Information

The Sawtooth fire that destroyed more than 150 homes and buildings earlier this week was 20 percent contained but it was burning through dense, dead brush in a desert canyonland that has not burned in recent decades, authorities said at a morning briefing for firefighters. A half-mile away, the 8,300-acre Millard fire (which is the result of four smaller fires) was burning in the San Gorgonio wilderness, a forest area southwest of the Sawtooth blaze. It posed a threat to about 75 scattered homes and was just 5 percent surrounded. "The fires are very close together ... it's likely that will occur today," fire spokesman Rick Vogt said.

"If they come together, there's a potential for significant fire behavior," said Glenn Barley, a spokesman with the California Department of Forestry.

He said large fires can create their own weather patterns.

8. More links- Pioneertown
http://www.pioneertown.com/f-index.htm

I love that area and I'm sad to see it burning.

If you click the "update" link on the right hand side you can get a lot of info on the fires.

12. Flew into LAX today- saw the smoke; it was ugly.
I used to spend a great deal of time in that area.
The shots on television made my cry; especially of
the Pioneertown and the Rimrock area.
Damn it to hell.
I hope the elderly couple are safe-
I can think of some neocon couples who belong
in the inferno of hell burning there...perhaps we could
make a few switches?

Having been on evacuation alert on a regular basis during my 3 decades in so cal, my heart goes out to all in harm's way.
