This event was hosted by the Hudson Institute in Washington, DC.

Lockout: Why America Keeps Getting Immigration Wrong When Our Prosperity Depends on Getting It Right
Michele Wucker

In "Lockout" author Michele Wucker argues that the growth of the American economy depends on immigrant labor. Ms. Wucker explains that while America usually reaps most of the benefits of globalization, many people, who she descibes as "the best and the brightest" throughout the world, no longer see the country as the only place to secure their financial futures. This event was hosted by the Harry W. Schwartz Bookshop in Milwaukee.

Michele Wucker is a freelance writer who reports regularly on Caribbean affairs for both Dominican and North American newspapers.

one just left for his 2 week NG training...
one was busy raiding in Everquest
and one had to go to bed early so he could get up for work this morning.

My babies are all grown up!

so I had a drink, and read to myself. :)

40. Spence Publishing Banquet, nutjobbers fretting over manliness,
by which they seem to mean iron rule over all. The best was the little queen defining feminists. Did you all know feminists hate women? Mr. Mary Fusspot said they do.

Phylliss Schlafly was on hand to lend her hatchet-faced charm, decrying weak men. The crowd ate her up with a spoon--like curdled pudding.

I'd be happy to put Phylliss in her place if that's what she wants. But of course, that's not what the hypocrite wants at all.

Peppered with odd references to ancient Rome, faux religiosity, and the decrying of psychology as a science-less fantasy, (unlike the Bible references) it actually made for quite the psychologist's field day.

I have fond memories. My favorite uncle introduced me to the decadence when I was about 13. He worked at a dinner theater in Nebraska. The goings on back-stage were far more exciting than what went on on-stage.

49. Well sure, at a dinner theater, yeah.
Just kidding.

Usally when folks are more wrapped up in off-stage shennanigans than the play, the play and the audience suffers.

When Stanislavsky said "Love the art in yourself, not yourself in the art", I don't think he meant Art the lighting guy.

I can't remember the name of the play.

a melodrama, set in 1800's, woman becomes rich (gold rush) the established families will not accept her ... a great story, and the acting was superb (for a dinner theatre :) ) I think the backstage antics added to the passion of the performance. :D

so unless y'all meet at the bar of my hotel around 3:30, I don't think we'll be able to maul each other this time out. :-)

I think we're coming in fairly early on Friday, so maybe if we're close enough we can hook up? or I can just make a trip out at a later date. (I'm a three hour drive, but on my own I'd be taking a bus or train.)

I don't know. Why can't we all just live on the same block?:-(
