Poll question: How do you interpret the recent "reversals" (Geneva Con. and NSA spying)? |
|
So, DUers, what's your take on *'s purported change of course on the Geneva Conventions and allowing courts to oversee NSA spying?

but someone who knows says that people who like to torture are the only ones who want to do it. Can't you just see Cheney licking his lips at the thought???

3. The SCOTUS did Bush a great favor |
|
He gets out of a really sticky tarpit of his own making, and all the while he can carry on with his cowboy act, doin' his level best to protect Americans.

4. "Purported" is the key word, I'll believe it when I see the evidence. |

The first and best evidence would be removal/prosecution of the Bush lawbreakers.
The laws didn't change, only the purported promise to at least make a pretense to a return to any regard for them.
Next as proof I would like to see a huge battalion of the IRC descend on Guantanimo and release their findings to the world. The conditions of other prisoners- the extraordinary renditioned and overseas "disappeared" are a particularly unique challenge, though, since they officially "don't exist"...

several judges on the FISA court resigned in protest. Don't think for a second that Bushco didn't replace those judges w/folks that will side with 'em. So now Bushco can say they are complying with the law, but their judges will look the other way....

I'm gonna look into exactly who replaced the protesting judges.
