so, is this how it's gonna be? |
|
went to another temp agency to look for work and part of the process is filling out an I-9.
now, i've filled many of these forms and two pieces of i.d. (namely a valid state d.l. and social security card) were always sufficient to get a job.
well, this one lady decided that she needed a birth certificate.
i told her (actually read her the form) that this was not true.
oh, btw, i have a spanish surname, was born in chicago, and speak like a midwesterner.
i guess she wanted to be sure i wasn't illegal.

and eventually we'll all run into them.
Demanding a birth certificate is WAY over the top. It's not the kind of thing we carry around with us.
If you don't get the job, complain about it.

2. Two pieces of ID are required |
|
One most be a photo ID like a driver's license.
No new legislation has been passed yet that changes these rules.

4. School ID card with a photograph is not acceptable here. |
|
Because it is issued by the school, not by the state.

That list appears to be straight off the I-9 form. It must be combined with something from the second list(SSN card, birth certificate, etc.)

5. Well there is a call for employers to be responsible for who they |
|
are going hiring and that it is not an illegal. Without the proper tools to run ss numbers and I.D.'s through a national data bank, there is no way for an employer to determine whether or not someone is illegal of legal. So now we are just going to idiotically discriminate based on a profile.

6. guess its your turn now, look back through our historic country's |
|
ability to find people to fear, hey stuff like this garners votes for white bread America, don't take it personal, your not the first to have to deal with such outrageous actions in the very country you call home based on your supposed heritage...
You have to wonder about some in this country sometimes, we should be proud of our diversity and yet far too many still wish such didn't exist, wish those few would find their own country to play their racist games.

10. People are so officious now |
|
The bureaucrats always think of something new to "require." They think they are a law unto themselves. People who work for big companies think they work for the government and have to enforce the law and some people just like having power over others, no matter how petty. See if you tell her she doesn't need it, she'll just get pissy over the fact she can't require it.
Even judges are like this nowadays. Nobody thinks the rule of law is worth following, they just try to gain as much power over others as they think they can get, personally.
