We're going all in..If we can get Gore to run, we'll mortgage our house.. |
|
Edited on Tue Jan-17-06 12:51 PM by converted_democrat
I came to this team, from the "other team" because I care more about the destruction of our nation and our democracy, than I do about party lines. I joined up here to fight the pukes, not wring my hands and cry in the corner. After watching Al yesterday, I realized he is exactly what we need. He is a man of integrity, he's not afraid to tell the truth, and he does not back away from the fight. I didn't vote for Gore in 2000, and I want to right that wrong. If we can get Gore to run, we'll mortgage our house for his campaign.. It's worth 250,000 and I'll give it all to Gore if he'll run. Drastic times call for drastic measures.. I'll put my money where my mouth is.. I can't even get people on this board to make a phone call, and I'm willing to take a risk on losing my family's' shelter to fight this fight.. What legal means are you willing to go to?
* I will be the first to admit that I know nothing about campaign finance, and the laws that dictate it.. If you do know, please tell me how to give the money legally.
* on edit- We own a small corporation too, so I don't know if we could give more through that outlet or not.. Can we give more, if we give through the corporation?

1. You can legally give $2000 to a campaign. I'm sure if Gore decides to run, |
|
his campaign will welcome your time and commitment to help.

2. The most you and your spouse could give directly to Gore's campaign |
|

committee together would be $4000.
As of now however, donations to 527 groups are basically unlimited.

11. Every individual over the age of 18 can donate $2000 to a candidate |
|
over the course of an election cycle.

3. I just sent him a hand written note on a thank you card with a $20 asking |
|
him to run. Not exactly $250,000 but a start.
PS - I didn't vote in 2000 at all. I'm doing my damndest to right my wrongs too.

4. I think I would fear for Al Gore to run |
|
and unlike you I really like the guy, in fact I supported Clinton in 92 because he put Al Gore on the ticket so I've liked Al forever. However, I don't think he would or should ever run again. If he lost to some Republican boob it would probably send him over the edge, and he's a father and grandfather and has too much to live for than to ever take that risk. That's just a personal feeling of mine.

5. He had the presidency stolen from him (even with a half a million vote |
|
plurality in the popular vote) and he held up. I think Al Gore is much stronger than you give him credit for being.

8. I tend to agree, demnan, |
|
I don't think he has the strength or stomach any longer to go through what he did in 2000. He'll make a hell of a campaigner for the final candidate, though. SG

6. Now that's what I call |
|
walking the talk. God bless you for your genuine patriotism, converted. As they say about religious converts, never so sincere as a conversion! What an admirable way to right a wrong (2000 vote). :applause: SG

7. Although I admire your passion |
|
this would be highly risky given the issue with the voting machines. Unless we go back to honest to God verifiable vote count it won't matter if you gave Al Gore $25, 250.000 or 250 million. By the way individual can give $2,000 in the primaries and $2,000 in the general election....so please don't mortgage your house - volunteer your time.....
And I've been wanting to say this all morning the BEST FREAKING PART of Al's speech was when he said Congress STAND UP stop going along to get along - JESUS will any of them listen - and Diane Feinstein was in the audience and she doesn't think Alito should be fillibustered....I could puke thinking about these spineless ass holes.

9. At this point it doesn't matter.I agree that the machines are a big issue. |
|
But what is the value of owning a home in a country run by tyrants?

15. Well that is a very good point |
|
but I would worry about you losing your home which is why I posted. Thank you for joining our team - it is so discouraging to me that so many folks still support these freaks and it is beyond my comprehension how anyone can - unless of course they are so freaking rich that they benefit from their policies - that is such a small number however....hang in there some days it is so discouraging I can barely stand it....but I keep calling and writing to Congress and hope some day it will actually make a difference. Al Gore's speech made yesterday a good day!!!!

14. Whatever... I'm far from being a fool... |
|
Yea, I'm really foolish.. I'd put my net worth against anyone on this board, and I'm only 26 years old. I own the 5th largest corporation in my county.. I'm not foolish, I'm passionate about a need for change in this country, and I'm not afraid to put my money where my mouth is.. What are you doing?
