Rapture Ready board: "Screw charity, let them die in Gaza"
I think this thread on the 'Rapture Ready' board is very revealing. One member is posting appeals from Christian churches in the area, charities such as Christian Aid and Oxfam, and the UN, saying there is great need in Gaza due to electrity, water, food and medicine shortages. The overwhelming response from the self-righteous types on that board is "screw them, they voted for Hamas; Israel can do whatever it wants".

http://www.rr-bb.com/showthread.php?t=263861

Uggh. If the board restricted themselves to joyously waiting for the end of the world, it would just be funny; but in the meantime, they seem to think that charity and 'love your neighbour' don't apply any more. If they really believed they were about to be judged by Jesus, wouldn't their souls be in extreme danger?

1. Because they don't see those in the Middle East as human or worthy
sad but true, they really dont'. They are nothing more than a means to the end.

5. The part of the Rapture they're really looking forward to is having a
birds eye view of all the pain, destruction and death being wrought on all of the souls that were left behind. Nice, eh?

6. They've accepted Jesus as their personal savior.
That's their ticket to the Rapture, it's all that counts. They can be the biggest, meanest, most bigoted a**holes on earth and it wouldn't make one iota of difference. That's how it works for them. Once, I argued with a co-worker for three hours about it--behavior is irrelevant, actions don't matter, reality is nothing--accepting Jesus as your personal savior is the whole ball game. Kind of explains why they are so willing to bow down to shrub's will, huh? The authority model is everything to these people.

11. Those are the "Faith without Good Works" people
Who firmly believe that belief in God is all you need for personal salvation, one doesn't have to help those less fortunate.

They can be racist, bigoted, homophobic women hating child abusers, but if their faith in Jeebus is strong, they fly right into heaven.

It explains a lot of their sociopathic behavioral patterns.

They are NOT Christians. Faith without good works is meaningless.

Faith without good works is an insult to Jesus, whose life was exemplified by good works and compassion. Even athiests agree on the value of his teachings and his sense of social justice. That's why the people who think that they will go to heaven simply by accepting Jesus as their personal saviour totally floor me--absolutely make my brain explode. I think it's just an easy way out for these folks--a way of getting a free pass to their heaven without having to actually do any of the work Jesus demanded they do. Love thy neighbor? Okay, as long as it's easy and they don't smell too bad or swear. You know what I mean. If there is a heaven and hell, these people shouldn't hurry the rapture along so quickly because they are in for a REALLY big surprise!

10. Jesus...
...one of the great "branding" schemes of all time. It's like "Coke" or "Levis". Just say the name and everyone fills in the blanks, whether or not it has anything to do with objective reality. The whole notion of the Rapture is antithetical to a loving God.

That's right, just say you love Jesus© and everything else is all right. You can burn witches, conduct crusades, rape and pillage at will, all with cross-laden flags waving and triumphant angelic horns blowing.

13. For these people, a relationship with Jesus is a 'personal' thing for
their own salvation; it does NOT translate into any kind of action or social justice or adherence to the Commandments or to the life, words, works and ministry of Christ.
As long as they have convinced themselves that they have "accepted Jesus Christ as their PERSONAL savior" that's as far as it needs to go.
That's why most right-wing "Christians" spend more time quoting OT scripture and legalism and do not pay much attention (if any) to Christ himself.

16. I guess they've forgotten Luke Chapter 6
"But I say to you who hear, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.

"Whoever hits you on the cheek, offer him the other also; and whoever takes away your coat, do not withhold your shirt from him either.

"Give to everyone who asks of you, and whoever takes away what is yours, do not demand it back.

"Treat others the same way you want them to treat you. If you love those who love you, what credit is {that} to you? For even sinners love those who love them. If you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is {that} to you? For even sinners do the same.

"If you lend to those from whom you expect to receive, what credit is {that} to you? Even sinners lend to sinners in order to receive back the same {amount.}

"But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil {men.}

"Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

Luk 6:27-36

21. "Rapture Ready?" Verse in the Bible about us not knowing the time or....
the day? They apparently know and are "Rapture Ready".

Do you get a sticker on your car? Do you get 10% off on carpet cleaning? "RR" squad action figures? Jan and Paul are still shilling for that filthy money, but why? The end time is nigh! Is cash king in the opportunity filled post-rapture economy?

Fucking nuts.

I almost joined just to post the chapter from Luke, since this bigot posed the question "What would Jesus do" and then answered it to his own liking.

It's the Palestinian's fault for thinking they have some sort of claim to GOD'S land that he gave to Israel and only Israel. It's the Palestinian's fault that they elected Hamas. It is the Palestinians fault that they raise their kids up as martyrs to a false paganistic cult. It is the Palestinians fault that hundreds of rockets have been shot into Israel since the Gaza withdrawal. It is the Palestinians fault that their heroes are terrorist and those that kill or preach the killing of Jews. They made the bed--they can lay in it or leave...

And you ask what would Jesus do? Do you know that when Israel first conquered the Promised Land that God told them not to leave anything or anyone alive--that's right Men, women, children, and even livestock were to be killed...all of them--or chased from the land...

So what would Jesus do? He would ask the Palesinians nicely to leave, and if they didn't want to--he would make them.

19. These people are completely insane
They have apparently forgotten, or better yet have ignored, Jesus' admonition: Judge not, that ye be not judged.

These folks blame the Palistinians ("them" "they") for voting for Hamas. That's a judgment that can be used against the fundies for re-electing shrubbie the war criminal.

If there really is a Rapture, can it be soon so we can be free of these lunatics??????

26. They may be in for a huge surprise, just because they can't read
Mat 25:31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:

Mat 25:32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth sheep from the goats:

Mat 25:33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

Mat 25:34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

Mat 25:35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

Mat 25:36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

Mat 25:37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed ? or thirsty, and gave drink?

Mat 25:38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took in? or naked, and clothed ?

Mat 25:39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?

Mat 25:40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done unto me.

Mat 25:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

Mat 25:42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:

Mat 25:43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.

Mat 25:44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?

Mat 25:45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did not to one of the least of these, ye did not to me.

Mat 25:46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

OK, so revenge is tempting. :)

I really would like to see the looks on their faces when they get passed by, and those they vilify fly past them.

It would be worth having a Rapture, just for that, wouldn't it?
