U.S. News, "Washington Whispers": Update on the Bush girls
No White House Wedding Bells Yet

What's the start of the wedding season without a good rumor about the Bush twins? But we hear a White House ceremony is not likely just yet. Despite whispers that Jenna 's beau, Henry Hager, popped the question during her trip to his parents' Richmond, Va., hometown over Christmas, we're assured that there are no wedding plans at this point. Ditto for Barbara, who's been spotted with some sparkle on her wedding-ring finger. Instead, we hear that the twins are deeply committed to their jobs and causes. Jenna teaches at a Washington charter school, and Barbara just returned from working with AIDS pediatric patients in South Africa. In fact, Barbara's part of the first lady's official delegation this week to Liberia and Ghana to push for education for women and AIDS prevention.

1. Wasn't there a post here some time ago about using a wedding
in the White House to deflect from the scandal news that is bubbling out of the media pot?

2. Henry Hager?

Is he the coke dealer she was fleeing from?

Or is that the other one? I can't keep the Bush twins and their "causes" straight.

13. Laura obviously taught her daughters to dress formally
Draw a line at the shoulders.

Everything below the line is drapery fabric.

Everything above the line needs redone. Nude lips in formal dresses?

14. Is this photo a joke?
I mean, this is quite possibly the worst formal portrait I've ever seen, if it's meant to be one, and that's being kind. Meet Slouch and Stiff, the Bush twins.

4. All in the family
Fortunately for Henry, Jenna’s dad approves of the Hager name. In May, President Bush nominated John Hager to be assistant secretary for special education and rehabilitative services, a position in the Department of Education.

Henry Hager, who has served as a White House aide, worked for Karl Rove’s team to help re-elect Bush.

You know, until marriage. I mean, if their dad is going to blow millions of my tax dollars are on that bullshit.

12. Four words in rebuttal
"The White House Dog."

Remember when Scumbag Limbaugh had a television show (which tanked because...well, no one actually wants to LOOK at his sorry ass, even diehard freepers)? The asswipe mentioned Socks, the White House cat, and said, "do you know there's a White House dog too?"

Then he put a picture of a preteen Chelsea Clinton on the screen.

At that instant, Limbaugh gave every Democrat in the world permission to rip the living SHIT out of any Republican president's children.

We as liberals are supposed to be above that. We're supposed to be nice. Fuck that. Nice got us a Chief Justice with three years on the Supreme Court. Nice got us Priscilla Owen. Nice got us George Bush as a two-term president. It's time to stop being nice.

(Lest anyone get the impression the school's site isn't updated, take a look at the "News" and you should discover that's clearly not the case. It's up-to-date, even to the point of making reference to this upcoming "Friday, January 20" and today, "Tuesday, January 17.")

19. don't be surprised if Jenna elopes! Bush's plans for her wedding ...
The ol' control freak wants his daughter to get hitched while the wedding party is standing in a creek! (Unless they are planning to have it in the dry season -- hot, arid conditions are so romantic! -- they had better be wearing gumboots.)

"He has stopped the truck this time to show off the "cathedral," a column of limestone steps that were carved by water but look handmade. A nearly perfect arch of branches roofs the long aisle. "I told my daughter, 'This is where the audience will sit,'" says Bush about some imaginary wedding in Jenna's future. "The audience will stand there. You and I will stand here, and the preacher will stand here." A gentle slip of water rolls over the steps and his cowboy boots. "Isn't it spectacular?" he says."

I didn't even notice that particular choice of words, SoCalDem! But you're right -- it's pretty revealing, and I don't think they can attribute it to Bush's lack of vocabulary.

Barb jr would be working for a cause like that without a photog to document it and shove it down our throats. I don't believe a word of that.

And hangs on to her ID . . .
