It is not as if anyone's idea here will make a difference. It is not as if most DUers are well informed of the issues, going back to before all of us were born - I am talking WWI here.
Many either have their opinions already formed or really wish that the whole region will just go away.
And, either way, it is up to the parties involved to decide. They are the ones that have to live with the consequences.

I reject your idea that no one here knows, and wishing the whole region would go away didn't help us before 9/11.
Also, if you read Israeli papers, the same range of opinions exist there as here, just in different proportions.
So long as the Israelis are fighting on our dime with our weapons (people in the Arab world have a nasty habit of noticing who makes those planes, helicopters and other stuff), we have some say.
