CNN Has No Shame
I was just listening to reports coming from the ME when one of the CNN anchors, having just reported the deaths of many Lebanese civilians (including eight children) said, "...and the Israelis have also just fired the first salvo in the battle for the hearts and minds of the Lebanese people" and proceeded to genially gab about how the Israelis are dropping pamphlets warning the populace not support Hezbollah.

I swear, you could have lifted that script from the ROVE playbook, it sounded so much like Bushspeak.

No shame. They have NO SHAME.

2. CNN lost their credibility long ago, imo...
It began when Ted Turner sold it and escalated when bush was (s)elected. They will continue to lose viewers because those who want Faux will go to Faux not a Faux wanna be.

3. CNN; a tool of the Bush machine.
Compare the inflammatory headlines of CNN with the simple reporting of BBC.
It's like CNN wants the flames to grow.

5. Here's an option:
Turn off your t.v.

I haven't had cable since December and I'm no less informed.

I'm less appalled mind you...

But I'm informed all the same.

6. Welcome to DU!
Good advice! I've boycotted the corporate media since November of 2004. I've lost nothing, and gained peace of mind. :hi:

8. welcome to DU--I haven't bothered with american "news" for many years
and, as a consequence, am far better informed than the fundies, rw's and sheeples who make up a large percentage of my community.

I swear they are using sublims--certainly one explanation for the truly stupid, ignorant comments made by the people who watch and listen.

19. By using "sublims" are you referring to subliminals? I have been
thinking that same thing for several years. If this is what you were referring to, how do you think they are doing it? Superimpositions or am I still living in the 20th century. Has technology created new kinds of subliminals?

10. Yes, welcome to DU.
I don't turn any of the cable news or broadcast channels on unless someone on DU points out something interesting to watch. I get my news from the internet and it's better because I can go right to where I want to be without having to listen to a lot of detritus about Brangelina, missing girls and other non-news before a small blip about bombs being dropped and such.

I am no less informed either.

I was hangin with Alyce the other day and she mentioned that she liked this board best.

I have one of my own too for those who don't like the big boards... but it's nice to stop in from time to time and see what the larger community has to say!

Extra bonus is that their newsreaders don't sound like a cross between Shirley Temple and a strangling duck.

14. The IDF are humanitarians!
They warn people with leaflets before they bomb! ... after destroying all roads to and from villages and attacking any convoy's leaving the area. We need to give them all white hats so the world knows they are the good guys and have a right to do anything they want.

20. Exactly!
Not to mention the fact that dropping leaflets--even before a strike--won't help the majority of people get to safety. Just like Katrina, many have nowhere to go or no means to get there.

The United States couldn't give less than a shit about Hezbollah, an neither could I for that matter. Fuck them.

The Israelis could raze Lebanon, and it'd be just fine by me.

21. The "EXPERT" on CNN was calling this piece of equipment a
"Tank".

The 155-mm M109 series,self-propelled medium howitzers are highly mobile combat support weapons.

The howitzer is a vehicle that provides armored combat support, is air transportable, internally loaded, and has excellent ground mobility. It allows firing in a 360 degree circle through its primary armament, the 155mm cannon assembly, and its secondary armament, the M2 heavy barrel caliber 50 machine gun. The system is capable of both direct (line of sight) and indirect (out of the line of sight) firing.

No tanks, Mr "expert,"(chickenhawk)you know not of what you speak!

Tanks for the memories...
