If there's going to be a major war in the M.E..... |
|
...I hope it brings the entire oil industry to its knees. I hope it destroys it, so we can start producing energy sources that we won't have to fight other people over.

1. And what of the major world-wide depression that results |
|
and will last for decades until new energy sources can be brought on-line? What happens to the poor and middle class then?

3. I don't think it will take decades.. |
|
...all that's needed is for the oil industry and its lobbyists to get OUT OF THE WAY.
People will use ingenuity to find other energy supplies. It's not rocket science.

You're rignt. An immediate end to oil would be devastating.
What needs to happen is energy production needs to be nationalized. This is a National Security issue.
The insane oil profits of late need to be seized and put into alternative energies.
Phase oil out over the next couple of decades or so.

...Some entrepreneur will find a $300 solution to alter your engine so that it can run on something cheaper. In the meantime, if we have to suffer a little inconvenience, its the price we'll have to pay for our F*ed policies.

8. I understand your point, |
|
but if that happens it's going to be a bad day at flat rock for the whole damn world. I couldn't agree more about alternative fuels, and the need to have self sufficiency.
But we as a country needed to be able to make an orderly witch from fossil fuel, to renewable. I don't think our country is ready to go cold turkey, and this war in the ME will create a scenario that will bring about two different possibilities.
One being, we'll have petrol but it'll cost $10.00 a gallon. And imho will bring on a world wide depression, are the pumps will go silent and commerce will stop in this country.
Neither of these scenario's will be good for the world economy, are for the people that inhabit the globe.

11. The other side of the coin... |

Could it be possible that "not" getting more oil is their plan? It keeps the prices high and the already subservient even more so.

|
At the time, I thought that was kind of strange. This week, it doesn't seem so odd.
