You absolutely must see what these people did.

Back story:

"Unprovoked attacks by Los Angeles police. From the counter-protest called by ANSWERLA.org to protest a Minutemen march in Hollywood on July 8, 2006.

Man in white shirt on left walks towards police, is clubbed. Others are clubbed, person in wheelchair knocked over. Screams of "he's mentally retarded." Officer on bike deliberately smashes into two people standing there videoing. Other cops club them, even after they're on the ground. After several seconds of them not moving, cop clubs them again and is pushed back by another cop."

DAMN!!! Get this out to everyone you know, this is wholly and totally unacceptable!!!
We have to make sure the MSM covers this brutality!

24. maybe not *all*, but there's enough of 'em that i still think they're the
enemy. the LAPD and other socal agencies in particular. they are organised and trained to be paramilitary squads more than civilian police. maybe it's a result of urban sprawl and being undermanned as opposed to the urban cores back east, but they are pecularly viscous. in fact, if i were aa angelean, i'd be be be stumping for disbanding the force. roll up the detectives with the sherrif and the uniforms with the state police and the hiway patrol. the LAPD is rotten all the way to the core.

27. well...
At protest marches, believe me, THEY ARE ALL BAD. If you want to keep lying to yourself that's fine. I would suggest though that you never step foot in a "free speech" zone... and stay at least a half mile fromm Anti-War protests at all times. I'm surprised the camera wasn't taken... i suspect it was taken with a celphone through glass, which maybe is why the cops didn't spot it.

12. Unfortunately this kind of police brutality isn't new.
The ones of us that were around back in the 60's remember all to well, and for the young folks that were to young to remember, ask some of your older friends how they survived the 60's.

15. Here in LA the police have been like this since before the war started.
At the anti-war protests, before we invaded Iraq, we were alreday terrified and shocked by the way they treated us. I was never hit, but I stayed way back when they come through with their swat gear, horses, and huge canisters of tear gas. Other people were hit. I remember trying to talk to one, to ask a question, adn they were not acting like humans. Instead of answering, or looking even, they stood staring straight ahead with muslces flexed like robots, and there were plenty of them; they had nothing to worry about from the peace protestors.

19. I listened to the begining a few times...
It sounded like a policeman accused him of shooting or snorting something, maybe crack, and he said, I ain't got no crack to //// Mister. (I don't know what you do with crack, sorry.) But that's what it sounds like to me.

And then of course the young woman keeps trying to tell them that he's retarded.

Edited on Sat Jul-15-06 04:27 PM by Cleita
as the OJ defense painted him to be but he held views common among LA Cops, even minority cops, that's why they were able to nail him like they did. Why do I know? I was a bartender in a place that the off duty cops used to come to unwind and I couldn't help overhearing the conversations. * and Cheney would have been very comfortable among the whole fascist lot of them.

The big difference is that these cops would put their lives on the line doing their duty and most were Viet Nam vets back then, something that * and Cheney aren't.

25. Too Hard To Tell What's Going On There.
I kept rewinding it and it looked like the ones getting abused were resisting pretty hard as well, so if they were fighting back at the cops or with each other than the cops would absolutely swing their clubs. Also, at the end with the two guys layin on the ground, were they fighting each other? I see one guy tackle the other and then they are wrestling on the ground. When the cop at the end takes the swing that the woman says "what the fuck was that for", appears to be because the guy on the ground was refusing to let go of the other guy.

Like I said, it was really hard to make out what in reality was going on, who was resisting and how, and whether the cops were justified in some of their aggressive actions or not. Regardless of what was really going on though, it does seem the cops went overboard a bit. But I'd still like to see a better video of what really happened and how much the victims were truly acting out and resisting.

26. The one in charge seemed to be telling the biggest psycho one to stop
hitting the guy on the ground with his stick. Though I doubt he disciplined him. These cop's behavior can be traced back to their leadership.

28. Good ole LA cops. In the sixties the mounted police charged
through war protesters on their horses injuring many who couldn't get out of the way of pounding hooves fast enough. I was almost there, but my dad had a heart attack the same day and I couldn't go. I heard about it afterwards from my friends who were there and the media never reported the whole story of what really happened.

33. It apears to me....
.......that a fellow in a white shirt at the beginning of the clip was trying to get around a cop that was blocking him from moving forward, a second cop lunged and struck the guy down, all hell then ensued....once again some juiced up authority figures felt the need to demonstrate their "teams" effiency....

34. This all - once again - demonstrates that if the COPS were not there...
...in the first place, there never would have been a problem. Notice how 95% of the time it's the COPS that create the violence at these protests?
