Wow! These fundies are really serious about the coming "Rapture"!
They are posting all over a "weight loss board I belong to! They are actually thrilled about the current situation in Lebanon and think the "Rapture" is coming soon!No wonder Bush got the votes he did. Armageddon brought by him is supposed to lead to the "Rapture" ! I had no idea there were that many lunatics! This is absolutely sick.
And my candidate DH just got a religious questionaire that was accompanied by a 'Christian" newspaper that announced that a RW loonie is running as a write in candidate for Mayor of Phoenix to force this state "Back to God and on the path of righteousness".

I know we are supposed to be tolerant of all religions but honestly can't something be done about these people? Why do they have the right to force their beliefs on everyone?

1. Jesus said that no one knows the day or the hour.
Tell 'em Jesus is basically telling them to stuff it.

2. If any are watching this, I have some advice.
Edited on Sat Jul-15-06 05:04 PM by The_Casual_Observer
Don't wait for it, the time is now.

Go into your garage, get in the car, roll down the window, start the engine, read your bible.

Stop talking and take some initiative, take that walk with Jesus.

3. Guess they can stop dieting now.. right?
The truth is only the most mentally disturbed are cheering the rapture talk right now.. This will shake out the pretenders for sure, as they'll suddenly realize that the majority of people they love will not be flown to heaven with them, but apparently burned to death and hunted like animals on Earth.

5. Why are they even bothering to post on a weight loss board?
The Lord is gonna snatch 'em right up and take 'em to see Jeebus, even the fat ones. So what have they got to worry about? Who needs a diet if you're gonna be Raptured? :sarcasm:

And my feeling about tolerating all religions is this: I completely respect everyone's right to believe whatever they want, but I reserve for myself the right to believe, and express my opinion, that some religions or doctrines are pure hooey. I will certainly tolerate the exercise of a totally dumbass religion, but I don't have to tolerate having said dumbassedness inflicted on me.

7. I am ANY tolerant of religions when they attempt
to install their mythology into our government.

Fundamentalism is the single greatest threat faced by our nation and the world.

8. I was on an astronomy list during Hale-Bopp and it was the same way
All of a sudden, people who seemed completely rational went all bizarro. They started talking about it being a sign of the end times and started going off, quoting all kinds of prophecies to bolster their viewpoint. There were divisions. Some of them thought it was a sign that the comet was a sign that the anti-christ had just been born. Others thought it was a beginning of a seven year countdown to another event. After the comet came and went the board quieted down until 1999. Then the loonies came back out and chatted about Y2K and the upcoming rapture. When that didn't happen they started saying Gore was the anti-christ and pushed Bush. That's about when I threw in the towel and unsubscribed from the list.

17. I was raptured that week!
We flew out to Vegas that week, with about 30 friends and got married.

On the red-eye flight back to Cleveland, I could see Hale-Bopp out the window, all the way home.

9. See if the photos at this site make those sick fucking idiots happy...
http://angryarab.blogspot.com/

What kind of a world is this when people can sit in their air-conditioned houses, stuff their faces, and post in an online forum about how happy they are that babies are dying horrible, brutal deaths a half a world away? Me help me but I find myself wondering if those poor dead children are really the lucky ones.

13. Fat Fundamentalists
Have you ever noticed how many fundamentalists are major porkers? Isn't gluttony an important biblical sin?

Whenever I see Falwell blabbing on about gay people, I always wish someone would ask him where he gets off haranguing others about what he thinks are their shortcomings before he waddles off the set for a steak dinner washed down with Lipitor and Atenalol.

I guess sniping at one's brothers is easier than correcting one's own flaws, but it sure as hell isn't more Christian.

15. They are Grade A nuts
Freep Creeps like to say that lib'ruls (and DUers) are tinfoil hat kind of people. The real tinfol hats are the fundies.

There's nothing Christian about them. The 'Religious Right' is neither.

20. Yup. Also just assuming that they will get sucked up into heaven.
What, they have a list. An envelope like the Publishers Clearing House came in the mail.

"You may already have been Raptured...
Paste the 2 stickers in the right spots, order 2 magazines, and you are in."

19. Some fundies musing about the rapture and what will happen
"I think the the presence of Jesus will be so powerful that we will not be able to focus on anything at that moment except Him. I don't think we'll want to. I know I won't. I'll be in such awe of Him that I'll forget everything but Him. He's the only reason I'm looking forward to Heaven in the first place. I'm going there to be with Him. That's all that matters to me. I would be perfectly content to never meet anyone from this life ever again as long as I'm with Him forever."
