Poll question: Is supporting Bush tantamount to Treason?

I figure if Ann Coulter can call all of us Traitors, we can at least ask the question.

1. I think it mostly means your lacking brain cells if you support him

2. Treason? I'd say more like tantamount to stupidity.
This is especially true among the uninformed.

8. I think the original post was implying about ordinary Americans...
like Joe "sixpack" and not soldiers. Even still, given the way the MSM feeds us "news", people make decisions based on incomplete and misleading information. I don't think people can be blamed for that.

3. Supporting/enabling traitors would indeed be treasonous...
...and it was Bush who OK'd the outing of Valerie Plame-Wilson. Even Poppy agrees that anyone who knowingly outs an undercover CIA operative is a traitor:

Even though I'm a tranquil guy now at this stage of my life, I have nothing but contempt and anger for those who betray the trust by exposing the name of our sources. They are, in my view, the most insidious, of traitors.

On the other hand, I also think it's tantamount to insanity!

5. I consider support for Bush as being "Brain Dead" and we............
.....should have compassion for "brain dead" and put them out of their misery. How that is accomplished is not for me to decide - although I've got some ideas.

6. both citizens and elected officials who support him are not ignorant.
except willfully so.

they operate from either hate or an unquenchable desire for power and money.

they know what they are doing and they know they are wrong.

9. If it's not right for them to say supporting (insert Democrat here)
is treason, then it's not right for us to say the same about them, IMO. But supporting Bush is just pretty stupid for the average American.

anyone that continues to support them is indeed a traitor to American ideals and Democracy itself.

14. Article III, Section 3
"Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort."

Not really.

15. Bush swore to defend and protect the Constitution,
and he is trying to destroy it. I would say supporting him and echoing his "talking points" is giving him "aid and comfort."

16. What about the First Amendment?
As much as we may disagree with what they're saying, they have every right to say it. Trying to limit that right and label it as treason, as others have said in this thread, makes us look just as bad as Coulter.

20. Your right to free speech is and always has been conditional.
You have no right to yell "FIRE!" in a crowded theater when there is no fire, for example.

And you have no right to commit perjury.

But if, arguably, Bush is making war on the Union, is not supporting him "Giving Aid and Comfort?" Or "adhering to its enemies?" If so, that is speech specifically prohibited by the Constitution.

21. That's a big "if"
He may be making really, really poor decisions for the nation, but that's a far cry from making war on the Union.

22. If those poor decisions are intentionally poor.
And the assault on the Bill Of Rights really couldn't be anything else, IMO, then he is making war on the Union.

If Bush is an enemy of the United States (and arguably he is) aren't his supporters "adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort"?

26. Enemies domestic and foreign
A Presidential Regime that seeks to subvert the Constitution through signing statements and unabashedly illegal actions, a Regime that engages in a campaign misleading the American people to think there is a connection between Saddam Hussein and 9-11, that Iraq could construct WMD in 45 minutes, and might send balsa wood model airplanes to spray anthrax over Kansas in order to whip up sufficient support for a war fought for none of these reasons -- wouldn't this qualify as "enemies domestic" waging war against the American people? If so, it is treason.

23. Yes. Plus, those who have (or still) support Dear Leader
Edited on Sun Jul-16-06 10:21 PM by GrpCaptMandrake
have a great deal to answer for to the rest of us who don't/didn't. The slimey cretins (albeit a minority of voters) who cast ballots in Dear Leader's favor are personally responsible for the deaths of more than a tenth of a million human beings in Iraq.

Weird-assed Bushevik Religion Industry (TM) voters also have a lot of blood on their hands in relation to what's going on in the Levant. It is their desires to "force" Jesus to jump in his Holy Rolls and come back to earth that allows them to sit idly by while things like this happen. All in the name of a magical reappearance by a man crucified two thousand years ago.

I'm hard-pressed to imagine how any sane person in this country expects to have a healing, reconciling dialogue with anyone who could advocate the right of any country to do this to civilians.

And yet there are members of the invertebrate wing of our party who want to get-along-and-go-along with Mass Murderers (ya listening, Joe? Other Joe? Hillary?)

25. People who support Bush may not be treasonous, but they have surely
been brainwashed into Bush's fascist and jingoistic ideals just as surely as the people of Germany and Italy were back in the '30s. People who support Bush are not good Americans.

Now if you want to talk about the chimp himself and his fellow neocons, that is another story.
