Williams Confronts Kristol: ‘You Just Want War, War, War, And You Want Us In More War’

This morning on Fox News Sunday, William Kristol argued that the Bush administration’s “coddling” of Iran had “invited” the latest aggression, and that the United States should join in the current fighting. Juan Williams pushed back:

You just want war, war, war, and you want us in more war. You wanted us in Iraq. Now you want us in Iran. Now you want us to get into the Middle East. … You’re saying, why doesn’t the United States take this hard, unforgiving line? Well, the hard and unforgiving line has been, we don’t talk to anybody. We don’t talk to Hamas. We don’t talk to Hezbollah. We’re not going to talk to Iran. Where has it gotten us, Bill?

Kristol smirked and threw up his hands.

14. Kristol wants war. Nothing new (2003 video link)
Edited on Sun Jul-16-06 12:48 PM by Mugsy
Invading Iraq wasn't enough for Billy. Four months after "Mission Accomplished", General Kristol had this to say on FnS:

(video)

Juan didn't have any reaction back then.

2. Kristol - just an affable spreader of democracy
NOT. PNAC has been and whatever it morphs into, will always be about US military superiority used to take over the middle east for control of its resources. Kristol is representative of the movement - doesn't matter what gets destroyed in the process, the end justifies the means. His smile is sinister.

6. As Shakespeare said
"one may smile, and smile, and be a villain". Many of the PNAC have the same kind of smiles, and all are sinister, and every one of them is a villain.

How true

5. Kristol is Awesome!
Everything is WE. We need to intervene here, there and everywhere. And Kristol bears the scars of his Life of being a frontline Warrior I mean can you imagine all the Combat this guy has seen??? The Fall of Saigon, The Maguyguez Incident '75, Lebanon in '82, Grenada '82, Panama '89, Haiti in '94, Iraq '91 & '03 & '04 & '05, Afghanistan in '02 & '06.

So when Bloody Bill talks of what WE need to do and the blood we need to spill I trust him.

Read this first paragraph from FAUX today (thankfully Juan Williams called him out)

Here's from today:

No, it’s a result of our deducing from the situation in Iraq that we can’t stand up to Iran. I mean, when we stand up over and over and say Iran is shipping Improvised Explosive Devices into Iraq and killing U.S. soldiers, and Syria’s providing a line for terrorists to come into Iraq and kill U.S. soldiers, and that’s unacceptable. That’s not helpful. And then we do nothing about it.

It's insidious how often the Yellow Elephants use the plural as though they've ever expended a drop of sweat or an ounce of blood in defense instead of sending others and enriching themselves. Fucker.

And I don't think he has the mouse in his pocket...

10. I once heard a c-span caller ask Kristol if
he had ever served in the military. Of course he hemmed and hawed and said no; however, he added that he didn't believe service to country should be confined to the military.

This freak's idea of service to country is promoting policies that get other people killed. Useless POS warmonger. Perhaps he can serve his country by volunteering the next time the chimp gets a hard on for roasted pig.

13. Comment on thinkprogress's message board...
People forget that one of the “justifications” put forth by Cheney and Rumsfeld (and perhaps Kristol too) regarding invading Iraq was that it would serve as an example to other countries in the region: mess with WMDs or terrorists, and we’re going to come after you. That by doing so, we would actively discourage them.

Well, just the opposite’s happened, hasn’t it Kristol? And now you’re telling us that our weakness has invited aggression? You can’t have it both ways.

16. Bush to Putin: "Just wait!"
When Putin said he didn't want an "Iraq-style" Democracy in Russia, Dub's response was "Just wait".

Brighter days are always "just around the corner" in Neo-Con Land, you just have to have patience. Just look at the mid-East today... peace is breaking out all the F*k over. Isn't it great! And "just wait", once everybody over there is DEAD, it will be SO PEACEFUL!

35. Yeah, "just wait" until it's too f'ing late to thwart the PNAC plan!
That's what Dubya really wants, no doubt.

But I'm thinking people everywhere are getting wiser and catching on to the recurring inane replies they're getting to their legitimate hard questions.

Even a rightie who hadn't had one ounce of input from our side, if s/he had simply listened to the many times we hear from the Bush White House and all their apologists, including military leadership in Iraq, "In six months we expect (whichever nightmarish situation) to improve," or "We've just had a landmark 'free election' in Iraq that will bring positive change," s/he would understand it's an unending string of promises that aren't proving out in real life. Even fundie supporters must find it frustrating to hear idiots in charge repeating their "freedom and democracy in Iraq" mantras when Iraq is so obviously anything BUT truly free and democratic. OR SECURE.

It's insane that the PNACkers think people are so stupid they won't notice the many failures and the falseness of their grand plan and grandiose claims. It's true people who want to believe can be very slow to catch on; but hey, use and abuse them enough, lie and connive in plain sight enough, piss on their legs and tell 'em it's raining long enough, and they're eventually going to not only catch on but revolt and come at you with pitchforks and torches!

(Now there's an image I just enjoyed seeing flash before my eyes -- in my imagination, yes, but might it not happen for real, metaphorically, in due time? Hey, I can hope!)

I heard Kristol on NPR last summer sounding almost sane for a couple of minutes as he criticized how Dubya had handled the invasion and occupation in Iraq. If I remember right, he leaned rather heavily on Rummy's strategy and tactics failures, too. But then he went from there to emphasizing that "we" (there's that "royal we" again) were right to go into Iraq, but he was simply disappointed in how "we" had managed things there. Like he was sitting in a f'ing THRONE ROOM on high and expressing his disappointment in how his minions had performed their assigned duties!

I'd like to see Kristol some great day reduced to sitting on a street corner with a beggar's cap on the sidewalk as he mouthed his insane preachings to laughing passersby.... To think that someone like him can gain an approving audience or genuine respect, or any power whatsoever, even if it's through influence alone, in our society is a scary matter indeed.

I've always thought Juan Williams generally offers such weak resistance to the crap spouted by the host and other members of the panel on that show he appears on because he well knows what network he's on there and what the opinions of everyone but him are in that setting. Not to mention their usual audience! I figure he must return so frequently only because he feels it's important to present at least some bit of counterpoint to their insane babblings. Who knows? Maybe one of his quietly presented and rational rebuttals will make a lot of sense to a few of the viewers out there in corporate-medialand!

I had to stop watching that program and all others on Fauxpraganda -- and finally the similar Bush-supporting crap on all the other so-called "news networks" as well -- a long time ago. (That one is on Faux, isn't it?)

I've been a news junkie all my adult life, so it wasn't easy to give up on CNN and the rest. But I've never seen the mass media abandon their proper role as watchdogs and vocal critics (when appropriate) of politicians in office as totally as they have done since Dubya was first installed in the WH upon the successful completion of the right-wing coup in 2000. It was a corporate media before Dubya's administration, but it wasn't as compliant as this ever before. It's outrageous and utterly unacceptable! The Fourth Estate is effectively prostrate before the anointed king, doing his bidding (apparently without protest), and it's sickening.

Thank goodness I found plenty of other sources of honestly presented news and information on the Internets! And a couple of other places. And not long after I found some Web sources, I also found DU, which has lifted my spirit markedly in the past year while helping me stay accurately informed.

I'm very concerned about the recent spike in discord here on DU, however, and I hope that trend is reversed soon before this great venue loses focus and effectiveness beyond recovery. :( I know it must have been infiltrated by many "covert operatives" whose goal is exactly that -- to sow division among DUers, turn them against each other, and put an end to a powerful voice for sanity and against the rightwing, PNAC plan for world domination. But it's surely sad to see such venal agents provocateur succeeding!

(I'm not ready to erect DU's tombstone just yet, though -- there IS hope still if we all remember our true ahd important mission here and recognize the destructive elements among us who should be exposed and thereby disabled.)

Here's to BETTER DAYS -- around the corner! ;)
