Everytime someone tells me "liberal media" I ask them to tell me one liberal who has his own tv talk show (and no Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert don't count).

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Published on: 01/17/06

CNN Headline News is continuing to bet its future success on opinionated chat shows, this time by hiring an up-and-coming conservative radio host for a new prime time program.

The upcoming addition of Glenn Beck, who is heard on about 200 radio stations, is the latest of several major changes at Headline News. In a move away from its heritage of showing a nonstop succession of half-hour news updates, the Atlanta-based network is focusing on shows meant to keep viewers watching longer.

Big corporate media outlets are PR wings for their respective conglomerates. They aren't news, and they will *always* convey "the world according to GM", so long as they're allowed to do so.

We need a sponsor list for CNN..perhaps a letter campaign to the sponsors, reminding them that 50% of the country (or more) does not even watch their commercials because we have tuned out the rightwing CNN :)

29. They could compete if they told the truth. Some of the blockbuster
stories that are going unreported, would blow Fox out of the water if CNN would report on them. They will NEVER beat Fox, which has the entire rightwing viewer base that's available and they are so indoctrinated they think CNN stands for Clinton News Network. It's hard to deprogram successful indoctrination. And it's not very big. CNN has lost millions of veiwers who would not watch Fox, and now have to go to the internet, or foreign news agencies to get away from the propaganda machine.

Let them sink. I never watch them anymore. A boycott of all their sponsors for this show is in order, imo. They may ignore it, but at least we won't be paying to be lied to.

That guy is an off the charts fucking wacko.

I have been screaming about this fucktard for a while now and how evil he is whenever people bring up Limpballs, O'Reilly, Hannity, Coulter etc...and I have always held that, even though he is relatively unknown compared to the rest of the horde, he is as bad if not worse!! Watch out for this guy people!

I guess I really cant say I told you so, because it doesnt prove anything and no one really cares anyways, but I'll say it for my own self-gratification.... I TOLD YOU SO! :P

Beck has been on in St Louis for a while now and I used to stop at his show from time to time while dial surfing and I realized early on how much of an idiot this guy was when I heard him talking about how he became a mormon. According to this genius, are you ready for this, he was religion "SHOPPING" and found "Mormonism" to be the most practical and the best fit for his life.
Think about that one for a awhile. freedom of religion and all, but cmon, to CHOOSE to be a MORMON! after SHOPPING around for a religion. I dont know, it struck me as odd.

Oh yea, and this guy is a self-admitted ex-drug addict/alcoholic...so he is SUPER self-righeous and sociopathic.

21. That was MSNBC
Savage has absolutely no tact and no self control, which Glen Beck has little of wither, but Beck does possess more than Savage.

Basically, he isnt going to tell a caller that he wishes they would get AIDS and die. But he will be a bit more subtle about it, so not to get canned....IMO

CNN took a definite, sharp turn in the last year. I don't watch much, but when they started having Coulter on as a pundit and not as a joke, I knew they were done.

CNN is FOX News 2.0.

28. They're ruining the CNN Headline News channel.
Edited on Tue Jan-17-06 02:54 PM by TahitiNut
It has been the least opinionated news channel for years. While we all know that there's latitude in editing and producing "hard news," it is far, far less than the flood of partisan-biased 'talk' and newstainment seen on CNN, MSNBC, and Faux(pukevision). CNN Headlin News has been my preferred wake-up show while traveling for years. When I see it in airports, I've not minded - not like Faux(pukevision) which impels me to vacate the premises whenever it's on.

:wtf:

THUD! That was me hitting the floor.

This is surely another sign of the Apocalypse.

All emphasis in the following excerpt is mine:
Glenn Beck called hurricane survivors in New Orleans "scumbags," said he "hates" 9-11 families

Nationally syndicated Clear Channel radio host Glenn Beck referred to survivors of Hurricane Katrina who remained in New Orleans as "scumbags." Also, after acknowledging that nobody "in their right mind is going to say this out loud," Beck attacked victims of the disaster in general and the families of victims of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, saying: "I didn't think I could hate victims faster than the 9-11 victims."

(snip)

Beck's program is syndicated by Premiere Radio Networks (owned by radio conglomerate Clear Channel Communications) on more than 160 radio stations across the country to an estimated weekly audience of 3 million listeners.

42. My e-mail to CNN/Headline News
Glenn Beck is nothing more than a bigot with a microphone, and now CNN is going to give him face time on a national news network?

You've just joined Fox News down in the gutter of what used to pass for responsible journalism.

With any luck at all, Beck will say something so egregiously offensive that you'll have to cancel his contract within six weeks. Barring that, you can expect your ratings to plummet wildly.

This is the same man who mused publicly on the idea of killing Michael Moore, said he hated the 9/11 families, and called Cindy Sheehan, the mother of a soldier killed in Bush's war on Iraq "the bitch in the ditch".

The decision to hire this hate-monger is a pathetic move by CNN management to pander to the lowest elements of our society, so CNN looks to become yet another bottom-feeder news network.
