Democrats Should "Swift-Boat" Bush (Example Strategy Inside) |
|
Edited on Sun Jul-16-06 04:57 PM by davidlynch
It's time to turn Rove's techniques against him. We should identify Bush's strengths and then Swift-Boat them.
One of Bush's strengths is with members of his Christian base, who for some reason believe that Bush represents their values. Democrats should come up with an astro-turf organization called Christian Soldiers for Truth. They should create commercials that would have testimonials as follows:
Speaker 1: Bush isn't really a Christian. He doesn't believe in any of the teachings. I've been going to his church for years, and he's never there. Bush doesn't believe in Jesus.
Speaker 2: Bush talks a good talk, but he doesn't read the Bible. Just ask him any questions about the New Testament, you'll notice that he avoids the issue. He's never read it. I know because he's a member of my church.
Speaker 3: Bush is a "fair weather" Christian. He acts the part when it suits him, but in fact he doesn't care about Christian values. In fact many of Bush's staff are gay even though he is supposedly against gay marriage.
As with Karl Rove's techniques, it doesn't really matter whether any of this is true (although I personally believe that it is). All that is necessary is to repeat the message over and over.
One problem with this strategy is that it goes against Democratic tendencies to be the good guys, to always do the right thing no matter what. But we need to understand what we're up against and pull out all the stops. This administration is evil, and we need to assume in advance that the most underhanded techniques will be used, and beat them to the punch.

2. Another "strength" he supposedly has is to never change his mind... |
|
which is just plain stupid, in the face of evidence that it needs changing, badly...
Another is the 'I'm just a regular guy' act....not sure how anyone fell for that in the first place, but some people view that as a strength in him (as evidenced by the stupid questions by the MSM whores during the 2004 campaign..."Who would you rather have a beer with?" as though that means ANYTHING about someone's ability to be president...)
Maybe something like: "During the 2004 campaign, more people stated that they would rather have a beer with Bush than with Kerry. Now that Bush claims he no longer drinks, isn't it time to base our decisions on something a little more important?"
I dunno...but I agree with your premise! We need to cut the rug out from under these people while we still have a country.

8. Speaker: Bush Doesn't Really Run the Country...He Cannot Make Up... |
|
His mind. Without his supportive staff, he wouldn't be able to make any decisions. He's so wishy-washy, I know because I was in his administration.

16. I wish people would tell the truth |
|
They know he was elected on a lie, if only people would speak up, maybe there's a chance we could have this overturned, both Demoratic candidates from 00 and 04 were credible men, either one could lead us out of what we are in now. Surely they can see there absolutely nothing to gain by letting this lie go on, we have a stolen White House with a country held captive.

3. Additional Areas of Strength To Consider... |
|
Assertion:
Bush is strong on the war on terror. Response:
Bush is weak on terror. He hasn't caught Bin Laden and Iraq is in shambles. Bush doesn't care about our national security except when he can enrich his own family or his cronies. I know because I was in his administration. All that Bush cares about are his cronies, and you can take that to the bank.

4. RACISM is bush's greatest strength. We forget that, because polls no longe |
|
no longer even ask. They figure they will not get honest answers.
But we must stop forgetting that racism is still the GOP's biggest vote draw.
We must defuse racism
One... guarantee house value, to end fear of blockbusting.
two.. guarantee jobs for all.. see sig... to end fear of ethnics getting the job before the redneck. if all know they will have a job, they will stop fighting over scarce jobs.
I call for more imaginative ideas to defuse racism.

"Some say that the press should look into these persistent rumors that a member of the immediate Bush family recently financed an offshore abortion."
I think that's not quite slimy enough, but you get the picture. Perhaps it is time for "some" to change party membership, and the "persistent rumors" to damage Republicans for a change.

7. That's perfect, maybe it should be for one of the Bush daughters... |
|
That would be ideal because that would generate and sustain news interest.

9. Good strategy, but it's missing one minor detail |
|
Which is - Karl Rove, while he may be good at swift-boating techniques, he had the media lining up to eat this bullshit out of his hand like it was a chicken trough. Unfortunately, we the Dems do not have that advantage.

10. Maybe we should take a page from Ann Coulter... |

Make the assertions so outrageous that the Republicans respond, causing the media to have to look (even if they don't want to).

14. Swiftboating involves lying and I'm dead set against it! |
|
Instead, I choose to follow Adlai Stevenson's wisdom....
I have been thinking that I would make a proposition to my Republican friends... that if they will stop telling lies about the Democrats, we will stop telling the truth about them. - Adlai Stevenson

15. I've seen several websites in the past few yrs... |
|
....which illustrate that his policies are clearly NOT christian!!
Beginning with tax cuts.........do we really believe, if Jesus were alive today, his number #1 priority would be tax cuts for the rich?
And then we have the sanctity of life argument. Apparently they value life in the case of Terri Schiavo or an aborted fetus but if you're talking about a war.....it's ok to kill as many as you want!!!
Gay marriage is another one that rubs me the wrong way. The Bible does say that a man shall not lay with a man but it also says that a man must not lay in a bed where a woman has been on her period. So that's a non issue for me too!

for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. It needs repeating often to fundamentalist Christians.

18. This has got to be one of the better campaign strategies I've seen on here |
|
Whilst everybody else seems to want to cry on their pillow about supposed election fraud, we have somebody here who finally gets it! They did this to Carter in 80 and it worked. You really should consider working for somebody's campaign if you aren't already.
