Left-wing rally: Negotiate with Hamas, Hizbullah (Israel)
Some 1,000 people take part in march held in protest of Israeli operations in Lebanon, Gaza. Demonstrators call on government to cease military actions, negotiate for release of hostages

Rally in Tel Aviv. 'No to brutal bombardments'

http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3276906,00.html

<snip>

"Some 1,000 protestors joined Sunday evening in a rally in Tel Aviv to protest the IDF strikes in Southern Lebanon. Police have arrested three of the protesters claiming they were holding a demonstration without a permit.

The protesters, who marched from Hen Boulevards toward King George Street, chanted slogans such as "Olmert agreed with Bush: War and occupation." "Stop the war monstrosity," and "Say no to the brutal bombardments on Gaza." They also accused Defense Minister Amir Peretz of murdering children in Gaza, and recited: "Peretz, don't worry, we'll be seeing you at The Hague."

"They keep telling us that there is a consensus in support of the war, and that's not true. They keep telling the citizens that this is the only way, and I think that there is another way," said Abeer Kopty of Mossawa, The Advocacy Center for Arab Citizens in Israel.

The organizations Ta'ayush, Yesh Gvul, The Women's Coalition for Peace and other left-wing groups have joined forces "to voice a different opinion against the war and in favor of negotiations," she explained."

1. They need to negotiate with Hamas but
Hezbollah would take some sort of international effort in order to disarm or stop them.

5. Hamas should be dealt with like a real government inside the Palestinian
territories because well THEY ARE THE REAL GOVERMENT...plus we can get concessions for some decent returns for them. "here have $2 billion but acknowledge Israel and stop calling for it's death."

Hamas INSIDE the Gaza Strip and West Bank has shown it is responsible with money so I actually trust them with it, however there should be a strong insistence on leaving Israel alone.

Hezbollah should be rooted out and destroyed. They are nothing but thugs.

2. Left-leaning, progressive, even some centrist Jews in Israel are...
...under severe attack from the conservatives there. If you think being called a "terrorist supporter" by being a Leftie in the U.S. is bad, you have no idea how bad the rhetoric (and action) gets from the hardline right in Israel.

What they have to put up with makes what Liberals in America have to deal with look like a cake walk.

13. Disappointing
I expect more from you. The overwhelming sentiment on DU is anti-Israel, and due to that, there are more crass insults and name calling coming from that side of the debate.

18. I'm fully aware of that
I'm also aware of some of the language and arguments being used on DU. In fact, last night a thread using a right wingnut article positing a classic anti-semitic canard, was shut down because the author is a well known bigot who writes for hate sites. Many of the responses were deeply admiring of the article.

10. that bull
an you know it.

why does hizbollah act like cowards and hide behind civilians. it is hizbollahs fault this is going on. they invaded israel captured israeli soldiers. then proceeded to launch rockets, missles into civilian cities to maximize civilian casualties.

how about blaming the true terrorists the hizbollah? if it wasnt for them this wouldnt be going on.
