Anyone watch 60minutes.. Big Brother watching you. |

I know that health care costs are soaring. And its hard to defend smoking.. but where does it end? I think we need to work on employee rights.
Almost glad I work for no benefits.

3. Caught the tail end. People who smoke are bad people. |
|
It has become a moral issue. More and more, employers are following what you do in your private life & you can't do anything legal about it in most states. Guy interviewed can't prove that the smoker employees he's had in the past cost him money, but he's gonna enforce his rules anyway. He's thinking about extending his no-smoking rule to spouses.

6. Thanks Dem---- extending to spouses? Wow, |
|
The never ending creativity in searching for pretexts to defraud the working class of even meager benefits and working wages is apparently without limit.

4. If I had an employer like the one.... |
|
here I would look for another job. NOBODY is going to tell me what I can and cannot do when I'm not working. For those who didn't see the story: This story is a repeat so from my repeat memory---the employer did not want to pay his part of insurance premiums covering employees who smoked. So, not only could they not smoke at work they could not smoke at home. They were given some time to get the habit under control or they were let go.....You know, if you smoke, you gotta quit because YOU want to not because your employer wants you to. I smoke. I smoke at home and on our property. I don't smoke anywhere it isn't permitted but enough is enough. I look at it, especially with all of today's troubles, as my release. May not be a good choice but I enjoy it and it's MY choice. If I'm doing the environment harm...sorry...but I bet it's less than what some people do with their big vehicles. I drive, maybe, five miles a week. I live in town in a VERY small community and seldom get to go anywhere so.............but did go to see CSNY yesterday in St. Paul, MN...........more tomorrow. It was WONDERFUL!!! The last concert I saw was over then years ago....too long.....but I think it made me appreciate this all the more!

5. Does your employer smoke? |

How much you want to bet that employer whining about his employee smokers probably smokes himself. Labor is fast becoming slave labor....wake up!
