Post pictures of a "fat" Bill Clinton
if you've got 'em. Anybody? I'm serious. Anyone else remember all the fat jokes about Clinton in the 90's? The repubs were constantly calling him FAT. And although I saw him everyday on the news for myself, and was a supporter of his, I sort of bought into it. They had to belittle him from day one, and this was one of their first attempts. Well, guess what? He was never "fat", overweight, or whatever you want to call it. I can't find a single picture of him that shows this. Not that I care if he was or not. That's not the point. It's just another example of the repugs LYING, getting lots of airtime to do so, and even convincing his supporters that there's something to their lies.

By the way, I saw Clinton from a distance of about twelve inches a couple of years ago, and he is, if anything, too thin.

1. He had a little bit of a gut in the early days
but far less than most men his age. Certainly a lot less than most of the freepers criticizing him, who tend to have beer guts the size of a keg.

He also lost his gut in his second term.

3. He was ridiculously slim when I saw him
in person. No one would say he was heavy.

9. Oh yes, he's been thin for some time
ever since the late 90's I would say. But you're right about how the right and the media just used his pretty modest-sized gut to criticize him. Look at Dick Cheney. The man is a human barrel, and no one in the media ever comments on it.

16. Exactly., Cheney is the perfect example of the double
standard. But then again, we all know that the corporate media won't call repugs on anything. Being "fat" is the least of it.

2. I don't think he ever looked fat
but the Big Dog may think he was.

ATLANTA, Georgia (CNN) -- Former President Bill Clinton said his weight problem and brush with death are the catalysts behind his foundation's initiative of tackling childhood obesity.

6. That's interesting.
I'll have to get out my copy of "My Life" and look at the childhood pics.

4. Heart attacks will do that to you
I saw Clinton from a distance of about twelve inches a couple of years ago, and he is, if anything, too thin.

When my father had a heart attack he lost quite a bit of weight afterward (which he needed to lose). When I saw him, I joked that next time he might want to come up with another weight loss plan rather than a heart attack.

but I suppose the same point applies. Nevertheless, I had been noticing before that that he just didn't look heavy. Maybe in the very early years of his presidency? I really never saw it.

8. I don't have any "fat " pix but Clinton himself recognozed he had a
problem with his weight. Most jokes were about his jogging to McDonald's! Which he did do! He was always trying to lose weight. He actually did trim down and was in great shape when he had the heart problem. He lost his weight on South Beach Diet or Atkins don't remember which. Now,his illness has left him too thin I think. But as he was a chubby kid all his life, I think he probably likes being too thin! JMHO.

14. He does look kind of puffy
but I always got the idea that they were trying to say he had a big gut. Wow. Talk about someone who looks better with age. We should all be so lucky.

19. I found that at
google images after I had to weed through some truly great Clinton pix, pages of them! I still love him, warts and all, and miss his leadership and diplomacy mightily.

15. I often think
Edited on Sun Jul-16-06 08:26 PM by LibraLiz1973
That the entire thing was B.S. Saturday Night Live used to do skits about him eating other peoples food in McDonalds.
Yeah- he was a bit heavier than he should have been. But fat? Nah.
I saw him at the HUMONGOUS Kerry rally in Philadelphia last year- Bill's first appearance after the surgery.
He was so thin it was crazy. As handsome as ever. I love him- chunky or thin.

Yeah.... what a lardass!!:sarcasm:

18. Great pis
And he doesn't look "fat" in any of them to me. I think you're right; it all came from Saturday Night Live. But somehow, I just don't see them manufacturing imaginary physical flaws about the repugs now that they're in power, do you?

20. REAL men eat barbecue.
"McClard's gave me my heart problems" (or something to that effect)

Do you see a lot of skinny people in these photos?

For the record, McClard's is the food of the gods -- brisket and pork cooked to perfection and a sauce so perfect that it could make angels sing. Okay, so the Big Dog was a litle portly. Big deal. Most of the residents of Arkansas are a little fat, too. Hell, so's most of America.

Bill Clinton still looks better than the Buffoon-in-Chief.
