I think we can all agree that watching the ill suffer, as they slowly die, must stop.

I think we can all agree that watching people beg for food must stop.

I think we can all agree that killing innocent people and calling it "collateral damage" is beyond criminal.

I think we can all agree that each person deserves to be taught how to read, write and calculate.

I think we can all agree that each person deserves to know that their vote is counted and that only one vote is allowed for each person.

Perhaps it is time to define the Democratic Party in these simple terms.

Perhaps it is time to commit what remains of each of our lives to these goals.

I suspect that if the Democratic Party platform were to focus on the above, we might find a vast majority of Americans ready not just to vote but to make certain that their vote counted.

We might just find that most folk on the planet would cheer and be genuinely grateful that America learned the hard lessons of history and was going to lead, not by arrogance and insatiable avarice, but by humility and sustainable generosity.
