I've been reading many stories about seniors (and others) running into prescription hell with the new Medicare programs. I just read PA Democrat's thread about this in particular:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=364x164839Maybe it's time we step up to the plate (if financially feasible) and find someone we can help. Maybe even get a group of people together to help someone.
I don't have a lot of money, but I could spare a few dollars per month and help defray the cost of someone's prescription. In fact, just off the top of my head, I know of a couple of seniors at church that I could find out about and see if they'd like some assistance. (I know there are always ethical issues about medical history and stuff, so I wouldn't want to get into trouble. I just want to help.)
Some people are embarrassed to ask for help and don't like to talk about money, but in some cases, this can be a matter of life and death. It can't hurt to try.
Anyway, it's just an idea I had. Any thoughts? Is this already being done? Can I donate somewhere if it is?
Thanks for listening,
Matt
