My nephew will be pulled out of bed in 6 hours. |
|
He joined the Navy after he got a BAD report card from UNM... in all honesty it was a 2.2 GPA..............
Bottom line - he signed up cuz the recruiter was cooool. (he still likes him)
Brandon was lucky w a 140+IQ he is being sent to Monterey Bay (100 mi from me).....uh, yeah.
In will post the pics of his exodus tomorrow afternoon (2 navy guys pulling him out of bed) We have 7 family members recording the event.

1. just hope he doesn't get reassigned to the army |
|
they are doing that now, taking members of other services and dumping them into the army. If he avoids MP or security duty, he should avoid it.

7. Also avoid 'medic' -- happened to a friend's son |
|
Actually I think they did it to his entire class entering the navy

9. I've never heard of this in a all volunteer military |
|
They did it when they had a draft for Nam.
Do you have a link for this?

"The Navy: It's Not An Adventure. It's Just a Job." I hope he has an uneventful safe stint.

5. But all those exotic ports of call I did see: |
|
Dunoon, Scotland and Norfolk, VA, Cocoa Beach and the highly exotic Halifax, Nova Scotia...
I rarely even saw the ocean -- we all got always seasick when surfaced (odd how a rounded keel does that to one) and could not wait for the diving alarm as soon as we had enough depth beneath us!
"Thank God, I hope it's at least 400 feet so I don't have to feel the waves!"
The Navy isn't bad. If your nephew has a high IQ, he will get a plum billet with some great training, and the comradeship can't be beat. Tell him to volunteer for the submarine service!

6. If his IQ's so high, why didn't he just pull up his grades? |
|
Everybody knows what volunteering for the military is going to lead to, nowadays. Being sent to your death vs. some all-night study sessions...doesn't seem like that hard of a choice.
God, what's in the mind of people goose-stepping behind Bush?

8. I heard they were pulling Navy MMs (Machinist Mates) |
|
and sending them to Iraq. I sure hope not. Some of our Nuke MM are more educated than the average officer over there. Heck, some of the Navy's MM are better educated than the pResident. What a waste of money, talent and life to train them as MMs then send them to be cannon fodder.
