I have no dog in this fight but here is my take on it from the Bible |
|
Both sides including the high and mighty USA should take note. "Live by the Sword, Die by the Sword" From your own bible Israel.......

that almost everyone who claims to have "no dog in this fight", almost invariably does. Kind of funny.

3. So do you somehow perceive a bias in my post? |
|
I have noticed a few things about you as well but I will not comment upon them at this time. I have no real knowledge of what the Koran says but my comment was for all sides involved in fighting. I detest warfare especially by my own country.

as it always shall be! Interestingly enough - for this administration-the ultimate goal is the "conversion" of Isreal..

4. The participants in the slaughter prefer the "smite" parts. |
|
Of course, most of those being "smitten" don't have a dog in the fight, either. For the most part they are the "people of God" being "protected" by the killers.

5. I just wish this would be the last time. |
|
Just slug it out and finish it once and for all. I'm sick of watching both sides point the finger of blame at each other. I'm tired of hearing about the conflict. I'd almost be willing to see nukes used if it meant that we would never again have to hear about the turmoil in the middle east.

would use diplomatic measures with both sides to talk, what is wrong with talking and coming to a compromise, instead of using bombs. sigh.....................

14. Diplomatic measures? Why do you hate capitalism? |
|
No way to profit from diplomacy! The Corporatists will be along soon to round you up for re-education if you keep going around proposing diplomatic solutions.

8. I couldn't agree with you more Toots, but the verse |
|
you cite is from the new testament- which the Jewish Faith does not acknowledge- they are the words of a Jewish man (Jesus)- who was and is rejected by them.
There are many places in the old testament and in the Talumud that would not frame what is going on in the middle east as anything God would approve of- I'm sure there are also appropriate texts in the Koran- I'm not as familiar with that as I am with the others-
But I agree. People are USING religion, and 'god' to justify doing wrong- just as America has since * took power-

9. I am amazed at how often I am able to express my ignorance on these boards |
|
Thank you for the correction. I am not Bible literate per say although I grew up hearing verse often. I do believe there is much wisdom to be had in all books from all sides but I am not myself a religious person, However I do consider myself spirtual.

most folks I know think the 'bible' is the bible of the present day - old and new testaments- Jesus was a bit of a 'radical'- and sadly, most of what he had to say and teach, if truly followed would make a pretty water-tight case against a 'christian' war- If the 'Christ' in the name was Jesus-
And you are right- if we really look at the wisdom in the books of all sides of these 'religious' wars, we'd find much to say what is being done has no true backing in the 'religions'.
peace- and thanks for this post-

You say you are no Bible literate nor are you religious but you have Isaiah 32: 5-8 as your signature.
