For Lawrence Eagleburger--he called in on WJ just now. |

Edited on Mon Jul-17-06 08:05 AM by Skidmore
Mr. Eagleburger, I have a problems with you and every other "former government official" who were in key policymaking positions bandying about statements like "if we don't do something now about (insert situation), then ten years down the line (insert whatever crap here)." You were in a position to impact decisions about international relationships and, among them, how arms were distributed, who we support in positions of power elsewhere, and who we spoke to and in what language. At that time you went about your appointed job, did you ever have qualms about what you were doing? Did it ever occur to you that supporting a dictator in another country was wrong? Did you have no problem with arming Saddam or bin Laden? Now you want us to sacrifice everything to fix your bad policymaking?
I don't consider you or any others like you wise statesmen. Not once do any of you step back and use common sense, let alone what we know about the human condition, to guide the life and death decisions you make affecting billions of people and the planet. You let money and power alone guide you in the directions you will go. Weapons are money and power, lives are inconsequential. I have complete and utter contempt for you and those like you and I believe we would all benefit if you and your kind would sit down and shut up for a while to let saner voices rise above the pandemonium.

5. Jean, the poster is reporting what he was probably thinking while |
|
Eagleberger was speaking. See Eagleberger was on the phone with the WSJ host so there was very little give and take and no questions taken.
I most definitely agree with the OPs opinion.

4. Oops, I edited my thread title. Sorry, I didn't get through to WJ |
|
even though I tried after I heard his phone call defending Kristol. I wish I had been successful, because this was what I wanted to say. In the heat of my rantwriting, I didn't think through my title well. Apologies to all, and crow is being eaten here.

9. LOL! I needed that laugh. |

He is one of the most disgusting former officials to pontificate on this or Iraq or anything. I can't stand seeing his ugly mug on TV.
Too bad Skidmore couldn't get on WSJ. The message (OP) is fabulous!
