Is it time for a Government in Exile?
At a time when either the current Republican Majority is not helping Corporations and the Wealthy get stronger, they are instead debating pointless things such as the Federal Marriage Amendment.

They are also tied to hate groups and Crypto-Fascist Dominionists.

Personally, I view this Pandering-to-Extremists, Nepotist, Propaganda Catapulting, so-called Government of ours to be illegitimate.

We need to have a Government in Exile, because a government of the RW'ers, by the RW'ers, and for the RW'ers is not a government I wish to be part of.

1. Not yet.
Governments in exile arise because peaceful solutions have often failed. If the 2006 elections are marred by election fraud and the same holds true for the 2008 presidential elections, then it would be safe to conclude 2010 will be marred by election fraud.

It can be stopped in its tracks though. Just talk to Lopez Obrador in Mexico City. There's a guy who really stood up when the votes were not counted.

2. YOu do not intend that literally I hope.
Any legitimate politician wouldn't have anything to do with it; because signing onto such a scheme would cut them out of participation in America politics. It would render them unable to run for President someday, I should think.

As a thought piece though, it should be very valuable to talk about what we should be talking about and about what we are actually talking about.

3. Emperor Norton
Edited on Mon Jul-17-06 10:09 AM by rwenos
In my youth, Emperor Norton roamed the streets of San Francisco, claiming to be the Emperor of the United States and Protector of Mexico.

He was a beloved street crazy of pre-Summer of Love/pre-Haight Ashbury San Francisco.

Perhaps he has blood descendants we can install in a court-in-exile in Vancouver, BC?

On Edit: I checked, Emperor Norton died penniless in San Francisco in 1880. So I was just responding as a kid to the legend, not the man. :-)

4. There are times I feel like we are in Exile..
and can't say anything to make it change. An example that comes to mind is the vote to pull troops out of Iraq. 80% of the nation wants it to happen. However, the "leaders" vote to keep them there and continue with the manman's plan.
