I think it would be kind of cool if the Apocalypse happened in my lifetime
Edited on Mon Jul-17-06 01:07 PM by trumad
Even if the world were only 6000 years old, it would be kind of cool if the world ended in my little 100 year slot. That's some decent bragging rights....

3. Very happy actually....
I find it always easy to hope for something that will never happen.

21. wrong sport
Think about it:
2004: the Red Socks win the World Series
2005: the White Socks win the World Series

If the Cubs win in 2006 I will take it as a sign that the end times are indeed upon us.

19. Religion is all a delusion, just a cultural thing. But there is a deeper
spirituality that many wise persons have perceived: the equality of all people, the holiness of all life, the joy and importance of compassion, and the need for peace-making. Jesus, Buddha, and many others understood this, and tried to tell their followers. But often their followers quickly got it horribly wrong.

5. me too
But I'd much rather it be the result of a comet impact or a nearby supernova than a religious war.

8. Just watched The Road Warrior again the other night
If the Apocalypse occurs, I suspect the aftermath would be very much like the movie.

Can you drive a standard?

10. Too weird
My friend was just here, and I asked him if HE thought I was deranged, thinking we may be alive to see the end of the world. I posed the same question to my Fundie daughter on the phone last night, and she told me I was sick. He said he'd actually been thinking the same thing last night.

We both agreed it would be an honor to be part of such a historic event. Do you think the cockroaches will write about it?

13. My life fades. The vision dims.
All that remains are memories. I remember a time of chaos. Ruined dreams. This wasted land. But most of all, I remember The Road Warrior. The man we called "Max". To understand who he was, you have to go back to another time. When the world was powered by the black fuel. And the desert sprouted great cities of pipe and steel. Gone now, swept away. For reasons long forgotten, two mighty warrior tribes went to war and touched off a blaze which engulfed them all. Without fuel, they were nothing. They built a house of straw. The thundering machines sputtered and stopped. Their leaders talked and talked and talked. But nothing could stem the avalanche. Their world crumbled. The cities exploded. A whirlwind of looting, a firestorm of fear. Men began to feed on men. On the roads it was a white line nightmare. Only those mobile enough to scavenge, brutal enough to pillage would survive. The gangs took over the highways, ready to wage war for a tank of juice. And in this maelstrom of decay, ordinary men were battered and smashed. Men like Max. The warrior Max. In the roar of an engine, he lost everything. And became a shell of a man, a burnt out, desolate man, a man haunted by the demons of his past, a man who wandered out into the wasteland. And it was here, in this blighted place, that he learned to live again...
