Colin Powell is Cheney.

Listening to the BBC radio in my car, and the interviewer was giving Colin what-for on whether he mislead the world on WMD when he spoke to the security council. Powell defended himself saying that he used the best intel available.

But that's not what lead me to conclude that Powell is Cheney.

It was when Powell set up the false choice...that the choice was between lifting sanctions or invasion. We knew Saddam wanted WMD, so how could you advocate lifting sanctions and allowing him to build the capacity, he asked.

That false choice is so dishonest, so clearly Cheneyesque in the scope of it's cynical manipulation, that I couldn't believe Powell repeated it TODAY. OF course it was NEVER a choice between invasion and "doing nothing", as Bush liked to put it. It was between invasion and keeping sanctions on and inspections going. But Bush and Cheney and now Powell gave us a false choice and never acknowledged any restraint on Saddam aside from invasion....which, given that we know how sanctions caused Saddam to get rid of his WMD and programs in fact, puts Powell in the fucking scumbag category with Cheney et al.

So much for him.
