I was just listening to Malloy's show from last night and there were some people who sent in some emails to Mike that really got me upset. He was trying to give credit where credit was due to Gore and he was playing soundbytes from his speech. Many called in and wrote expressing their support for Gore, but Mike said his audience seemed divided, as many were writing in with some nasty letters, Mike said some were so bad he couldn't even read them on the air. I don't have a problem with the fact that there are many democrats out there who don't like or support Al Gore. Certainly everyone is entitled to their opinion. The thing that bothered me was that I feel many of these people have the wrong idea when it comes to why Gore conceded. I don't think now, nor did I ever think that Gore gave up on us. This is purely my opinion, and I am well aware that many times I have been wrong, but when I look back on his concession speech and read this, I believe him:
"And while there will be time enough to debate our continuing differences, now is the time to recognize that that which unites us is greater than that which divides us.
While we yet hold and do not yield our opposing beliefs, there is a higher duty than the one we owe to political party. This is America and we put country before party. We will stand together behind our new president."
