House to vote on the Heil Hitler (HJR 88) Amendment tomorrow. Take Action!

Tuesday, the House of Representatives will vote on the Federal
Marriage Amendment to ban marriage between same sex couples and
write discrimination into the Constitution. Help us fight back
-- tell your Representative to vote no today.

Just last month, the Senate held its own vote on the FMA. We
asked fair-minded Americans to stand up for equality by
contacting their Senators and urging them to vote no. The
result? Hundreds of thousands of letters poured in to the
Senate, and the extremist Senators pushing the FMA were unable
to get a majority of their colleagues to support their agenda.
You helped us keep discrimination out of the Constitution before
-- now we need your help again to stop the FMA in the House.

Here's what you can do:

1. FLOOD YOUR REPRESENTATIVE'S INBOX WITH EMAIL
Write your Representative to let them know you strongly oppose
the FMA. Tell your Representative that discrimination has no
place in the Constitution. Click here to send your message now:

2. OVERWHELM THE HOUSE SWITCHBOARD WITH CALLS
Call 202-224-3121 and ask to be connected to your
Representative's office. Tell your Representative you strongly
oppose the FMA. A sample script is below:
http://www.hrcactioncenter.org/campaign/fma_postcards_house

:: I am calling to urge you to vote no on the Federal Marriage
Amendment.

:: Throughout American history, the Constitution has been
amended to expand and protect the rights and liberties of the
American people - it should not be used to single out some
Americans for discrimination.

:: The Federal Marriage Amendment would single out gay and
lesbian Americans for separate and unequal treatment in the U.S.
Constitution, the very document that is supposed to guarantee
Americans' equality.

:: Do not write discrimination into the Constitution; vote NO on
the Federal Marriage Amendment.

Thank you again for your unwavering support. We'll keep you
updated as the vote is handed down.

Warmly,

Joe Solmonese
President

1. This issue gets the people who hate people out to vote
Randi Rhodes just said something like this on the air. I thought it was a perfect answer to why the repukes are so interested in gay marriage.

4. It's wasted effort - If the Senate didn't pass it by 2/3 majority
then it doesn't matter of if the house passes it 435-0. The only two things that can bypass the requirement of both houses to pass it with 2/3 majority is either a constitutional convention called by the states or a 5-4 supreme court decision.

Without the Senate, it's symbolic only and takes time and energy. What if efforts are instead put against things that will affect votes in November.

7. I am delighted to participate!
Some may insist that this is merely a form, going through the motions. I do not.

Yes, it's true that this whole thing is little more than the a shell game, engaged in to exploit subtle and not so subtle frailties of human nature by conscience challenged tumors on the the body politic.
These bitter, evil squamous cell carcinomas care nothing about the damage they cause in their single minded pursuit of ill considered objectives, but they need to be reminded at every opportunity that they are out of touch with the real world.
My own rep is a vile example of neofascist repuke, hopefully retiring soon. We have never agreed on anything of substance and my snail mail and email make no difference to his thinking, however, I do still pick up pennies and a hundred of them still make a dollar. He does still reply to them, even though it's more like swatting away flies to him.
