Edited on Tue Jan-17-06 04:12 PM by tgnyc
just now. Full interview later in the 4-5pm EST hour.

Unity of opinion and WILLINGNESS TO EXPRESS IT among the Democratic leaders? Is this the 7th Sign of the Apocalypse?!

1. That was a cathartic moment! No equivocation, short answers --
he was on board with both of them. It was quite dramatic the way Wolf played his answers, and Wolf started the "Situation Room" with this.

7. That certainly wasn't a criticism. I find it ironic, though, that
Kerry is in Israel and can speak out while other Dems have been solidly silent.

Ignoring Dems is as bad as spinning a story against them. People get mad when they think Dems aren't speaking up, either.

97. Oh, believe me, I know.
Folks here were ready to hold an intervention in 11/04 because they thought I'd lost it over the election. Their position: "Stolen? It wasn't stolen! No one has even mentioned such a thing except you!" My response: Lots and lots and lots of links and international news reports. Their reaction: "Well, daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn!"

They are now fully up to speed and are even sending ME additional links/news!

8. It ain't the speaking out part.
It is the content of what she says A LOT OF THE TIME, that drives me nuts. When she says things I agree with, she has my support. When she says things that I think are stupid or wrong, she gets my criticism.

they dismiss when our people are speaking out doing good. comments like to little to late, is bullshit. i am not a fan of hillary, but i dont hear a lot of things she says either. was good to hear her say what she did and so forcefully and NOT playing with words. that gets a pat on the back. i dont care if i like her or not, want her for pres or not. that gets a pat. too many people are throwing a hissy, regardless. as they will on this board with kerry speaking out. watch and see

that each of them has made their recent pronouncments. It helps everyone. When they say/do good things I give them a pass and applause much as I've disliked a lot the things they've said or done in the past. Unfortunately, with both of them, you get a mixed bag.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=364x166164

GORE: "The Administration's response to my speech illustrates perfectly the need for a special counsel to review the legality of the NSA wiretapping program.

The Attorney General is making a political defense of the President without even addressing the substantive legal questions that have so troubled millions of Americans in both political parties. There are two problems with the Attorney General's effort to focus attention on the past instead of the present Administration's behavior. First, as others have thoroughly documented, his charges are factually wrong. Both before and after the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act was amended in 1995, the Clinton/Gore Administration complied fully and completely with the terms of the law.

Second, the Attorney General's attempt to cite a previous administration's activity as precedent for theirs - even though factually wrong - ironically demonstrates another reason why we must be so vigilant about their brazen disregard for the law. If unchecked, their behavior would serve as a precedent to encourage future presidents to claim these same powers, which many legal experts in both parties believe are clearly illegal.

The issue, simply put, is that for more than four years, the executive branch has been wiretapping many thousands of American citizens without warrants in direct contradiction of American law. It is clearly wrong and disrespectful to the American people to allow a close political associate of the president to be in charge of reviewing serious charges against him. The country needs a full and independent investigation into the facts and legality of the present Administration's program."

72. txindy, you're going to like this!
Dean IS up to bat tomorrow!

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2006/1/15/161320/911

On Capitol Hill, Reid and Pelosi will detail legislation calling for a ban on Congress members' acceptance of trips from corporate lobbyists and for a clamp-down on lobbyist gifts, including meals and entertainment. In Ohio, Dean will deliver his address outside the office of Gov. Robert A. Taft, a Republican who is under fire for accepting golf outings and who is at the center of a scandal over $10 million in missing workers' compensation funds that had been invested in rare coins.

And there is a little more:

The Times got some excerpts of Dean's Wednesday speech: In his Columbus speech Wednesday, Dean plans to say that "the Abramoff scandal is the tip of the iceberg," according to excerpts from his address provided to The Times.

Dean will argue that the Abramoff scandal is a specifically Republican embarrassment, kicking back at GOP assertions that Democrats share culpability. He will catalog ethical questions facing Republicans including Rove and Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist of Tennessee, who is under scrutiny for possible insider stock trades.

"The Republican culture of corruption must come to an end," he plans to tell his audience, a theme to be echoed by Pelosi and Reed in Washington and by leading Democrats in Minnesota, Montana, Utah and other states.

78. I've waited for events and actions like these for years.
Gore, Kerry, and now Dean - all in three days?! Not only that, but Dean is going to go after the Abramoff scandal and the repub culture of corruption... Somebody pinch me. Better, yet, somebody tell me when Wes Clark is up to bat because I'm beginning to think the proverbial snowball is finally heading downhill and gathering speed.

74. I wouldn't read too much into it
The guy folded the day after the election, for God's sake. I don't really care what he has to say anymore, and that's coming from someone who almost got run over while holding up an election sign for him one cold evening.

79. If you have the evidence needed to contest - give it to him. He didn't
receive any from anybody else.

The evidence he DID have was only good enough for the two court cases he is still involved with in Ohio, that haven't gone to court yet - thanks to GOP judges slowwalking the cases.

82. Yes, he did receive the evidence
I know this for a fact, from personal experience. And there was a press conference BEFORE the election showing exactly how easy it is to hack the election machines. While he was folding, elections were being actively contested in New Mexico and Ohio. Yes, the evidence was there. He just didn't want to hear about it. And he folded. And our nation, and thus the world, is now still being controlled by a team of raving fascists.

I suggest you check out http://www.votetrustusa.org for information on what's going on now.

Edited on Tue Jan-17-06 05:53 PM by blm
and the DNC did not believe in machine fraud so they didn't secure the machines.

The DNC is only just now even bringing up securing the vote machines - perhaps because they are learning more about it.

Kerry won his matchups with Bush. The DNC failed its matchup with the RNC. The left media had their asses handed to them on a daily basis by a RW message machine that always stayed focused.

84. I need to add... If he had waited
He would have had an even stronger pile of evidence about the rampant vote fraud that happended this time around, which concerns not only the machines but the physical barring of voters from the polls. A year later, the world is melting from global warming, the system of checks and balances is melting from Bush's sour breath, and the thumbscrews of torture are being tightened by our "vice president" himself. This was not worth waiting more than a day to avoid? For God's sake. Even his own campaign people were torn to pieces over this.

80. Just a guess, but if we win back the House or Senate in November
You may get your wish (and mine) for an investigation into the stolen election(s). There was no chance with a repub-controlled Congress. We need either the House or the Senate, THEN we look into irregularities. I believe John Conyers is ready to get into that on a moment's notice. :toast:

111. Good for Kerry. I like him alot. I like Gore alot more. All of these
Presidential contenders must realize, at least in my mind, that they are second string to Gore. He's the starter. Dan Marino in the 4th quarter in the prime of his career. Gore is ready for his Superbowl. Dean is close, but doesn't have the statesmanship, and as far as I can tell, has no plans to run for 2008. Gore is the trodden upon hero making his return to the fight.

He is Rocky.

He is William Wallace.

Kerry, Clinton, Feingold, Clark, Edwards, Biden, etc. are all the back-ups. I think they all know if he runs, they lose. Period. So for the most part, they don't want to toot his horn too much out of purely selfish ambition involved reasons.

That Kerry speaks up in support, and does so relatively quickly, I think speaks to the integrity of the man...but he didn't think of it first, or have the courage to "Kerry" it out if he did contemplate it. It is always easier to be the second to stand up for what is right.

Gore may be speaking up because he has nothing to lose. He may be speaking up because he has no plans to run. I think he is speaking up because he is a passionate leader with a desparate desire to help this nation and that he wants to be President.

115. He said IF all procedures were followed PROPERLY - exactly what ANY real
lawmaker would say.

You think Kucinich would say he was against a bombing that properly followed procedure and targetted Al Qaeda?

Kerry HAD to make the distiinction because Wolf did not and worded it to trap him.
