Who gives a shit if ...
Bush said "shit"?

Is shit even a vulgar word anymore? It's not as bad as "bitch", "fuck" or "cunt" and it's a little worse than "damn", which is part of our everyday language now.

Is the fact that he said "shit" going to cause him to plummett in the ratings? If one-third of the population still supports him after everything we've gone through, i.e., Iraq, Katrina, domestic spying, outing a CIA agent, lying about WMDs, the sale of the ports, they will probably applaud the video.

To them, it will probably reconfirm that image they had of him as the "tough-talking, swashbuckling cowboy".

11. I remember Kerry got caught on video saying a profanity
in reference to Bushco. I forgot what it was, but to me, it just made him look more human.

Of course, the right-wingers were all over it, but even then, most people didn't give a shit, pardon the pun.

15. I don't think
he said a profanity. I think he said something like "this is the biggest bunch of crooks and liars"

I could be wrong, but I do remember this!

7. He says more obscene stuff every time he opens his mouth
I'd rather he swore like a sailor with turrettes but kept the war-mongering and disregard for the powerless to himself. Those are the real obscenites.

8. Good point, though with that 33% maybe it would?
They are the ones that think he is too pure a Christian to talk like that.

9. It's not that he said the word shit.
It's the way he somewhat dismissed the whole gravity of the situation. The stupidity that it portrays is stunning to me. I expect more out of the worlds' leaders.

10. What will be interesting is to see
if his language makes any difference to his core supporters, who say they are for "family values" and like having a "Christian" in the WH.

13. I agree with you Raging...
it only makes Shrub look like the real fool that he is.
I am not offended that he said shit. Most of us say those kinds of words everyday.

I think it showed a lack of professionalism on Shrub's part. He needs to be more aware of his surroundings, especially with a mic and camera present. He should also use proper English while in the company of world leaders and not use a slang curse word.

With that being said, I really don't think it's that big of a deal that he said shit.

I would also like to see DUer's reaction if say Kerry, Boxer, Dean, Feingold or any other of our DEM leaders in Washington had said what Shrub said today.

I think it would be different from their reactions now.

14. It's not the word
it's more that being pResident he should have a better vocabulary than to have to resort to using words describing waste to get the point across. Also of course it's the hypocrisy of a 'good' Christian family man using filthy words. Personally I don't care cause 'shit' is one of my favorite words to use but once again...the hypocrisy. :-(

16. But we already know he's illiterate
And as far as being a good Christian, does anyone still believe that shit?

Now imagine if Jimmy Carter had been taped saying that. Now that would be a shocker.
