3. He Knows He's Lying
He is paid to lie.... he's probably been lying for so long, he has started to believe in his own bullshit. He sounds so sincere too.... that's how good liars do it. They make themselves believe in the lie.

4. Thom Hartmann had a good point
The guy actually agreed that child labor should be illegal, then Thom said "A-Ha!, then you DO believe in regulation, then."

I don't understand why they are given time on air america. Aren't the network news and NPR enough?

Rush and his ilk don't have liberals on their shows.

9. Thom Hartmann often invites conservatives to be on his
program and engage in debate. Generally, it's good natured, but this guy is just a nasty, talking point spewing monkey. I can't stand when Thom has him on.

6. I'll make him a deal
I'll take that characterization if he admits that having no minimum wage law results in feudalism.

If a person makes minimum wage that person has to work an average of 14 hours just to fill their car up that leaves 26 hours if they work a forty hour week to live on,you know pay rent utilities car insurance and buy food. How can anyone live like that?

12. you could make a good argument that laws against abortion and gay marriage
fit this guy's definition of "socialism."

I have a feeling he has no problem with either of those.

14. He opposes regulation of the free market.......
He's perfectly happy with regulating individual behavior for the good of society. You should hear him discuss the need for abstinence-only sex education.

13. No, I think that a "maximum wage" ceiling would be closer to
communism (as in what does a private citizen need with more money than $xxx?)

Having NO minimum wage is more like social Darwinism, aka Only the Fit Shall Survive.

America is better than either alternative...America enables people to get a start and have a little stability (aka Fairness) and their ingenuity can take it from there.

15. Well, I suppose the minimum wage is socialism.
So is Social Security and Medicare. Medicaid is, certainly.

Requirements for workmen's compensation - that's socialism too.
As are a lot of consumer protection laws.

Good. Maybe we could use a bit more socialism - say, for
universal health care, a living wage, and aid to education.

We've permitted the right to frame arguments whereby they
define a term - in this case, socialism - as bad, such that
we recoil from it. Maybe it's time we embrace it.

16. Minimum wage is part of the supply and demand formula
That's why they need more illegal immigrants. The more that come in, the more they can dick around and keep the MW down. Someone needs to tell that asshat he needs to take an economics course.

17. Please.
I beg you ( and everyone else) to call it a "living wage". "Minimum wage" is just that - a wage that does not provide the basic necessities of life and is designed to keep people in perpetual poverty.

Thanks.
