Fundie Christians who "Pray" for an Apocolypse
Are sick, disgusting, cowards, whom are afraid to make their own descions.

You disgust me, go and join the military and get killed on your own. Become a missionary and go to a country that does not want you and get persecuted like Jesus, to live your sick sadomasicist dream.

Don't take the rest of us down with you and your sick demented life.

1. Don't worry about it
Jesus will not take kindly to people praying for the apocalypse and prophesizing about impending doom. He'll keep his own counsel on when that's all to happen.

7. The apocalypse (Biblical) is pretend, yes - but a very real one could very
well still happen because of their asshole (and heretical) policies.

God won't be bringing any apocalypse, but they sure as hell might. And they'll get us all killed in the bargain.

They want the $ and nuclear destruction won't bring in the $.

Falwell and Robertson belong to that group.

18. Amen! The mind games we play on ourselves and each other
are as frightening as they are useless.

BTW - did you see the recent study where sick people who were "prayed for"
stayed sick longer than people who weren't prayed for? What's that tell ya?

19. I didn't see that, but I'd like to read it
Fundies are always going on about studies proving how prayer works. I ask Santa for shit all the time, and don't ever get it. If you happen to dig up that study, PM it to me. I'd appreciate it.

26. The Rapture isn't even Biblical, so they aren't even real Fundies
Plus, reveling in the agony of others is also most unchristian.

It also shows they are morans who know nothing about theology or the Bible they like to say they know.... Revelation isn't about the future, jerkos.

3. Or as someone posted here yesterday,
They should go out to the garage, start their car, and read their bibles.

Take the walk with Jesus, and get out of everyone else's way.

I posted this earlier today based on some things I saw on Rapture Ready web site.

6. It's also heretical, so they'll get their comeuppance.
Let them pray all they want, and waste their fucking time. They're wrong.

Of course, it's not that easy - because while they're praying for the fucking thing, which is a totally non-existent thing which will never happen, they're also setting the mid-east on fire and supporting utterly destructive political and economic and military policies that COULD very well lead to a world-wide apocalypse, except that it won't be the big Biblical one they're planning on - it'll just be a great big earth-wide blow of devestation that might very well destroy humanity entirely, with no "rapture" or Second Coming of Jesus involved.

We'll just all be fucked, sitting in heaven, looking over at the apocalypse fucks and asking them sarcastic questions, like, "Do you understand how fucking wrong you were, now, assholes?"

9. Exactly!
Ugh... and they call gay people sick! You know, god forbid you fall in LOVE with someone of the same gender, yet they fantasize about Jesus disembowling 95% of the world's population. They're visciously violent and extremely disturbing.
Vanity Fair did a good piece last year on the "Left Behind" novels and the psychos who read them.

10. They are inherently MORE evil than 'radical islamists'
Edited on Mon Jul-17-06 09:07 PM by RadiDem
Even the 'radical islamists' are not actively working and hoping for nucleur Armegeddon where millions perish, and 80% of the earth's population is ultimatly doomed to 'hell' for not accepting Jesus as their persanal savior - and believe that good people like the Dali Lama are going to hell, but serial murderer "Son of Sam' is going to hevaen because he's a 'born again xtian'.

he killed 8 people (?) but all is forgiven, and he can chill with God cause Jesus died for his sins. ALL is forgiven!!!

These people are SICK SICK SICK!

22. You must be joking.
In the United States, particularly in the south, you can't throw a rock without hitting one of "these people". My entire family (except for a few of us who are Catholic) are Rapture fundies, and so are their friends and their friends' friends and families.

Have you not looked at websites like Rapture Ready or Rapture Letters? The Rapturites are everywhere and they're all frothing at the mouth waiting for Jesus to come take them, nekkid, up into the clouds.

"Have you not looked at websites like Rapture Ready or Rapture Letters?"

And there are sites that talk about the illuminati, bilderbergers, trilateral commission, UFOs, masons, scientology and reams of other fringe belief systems - yet they are nowhere near mainstream nor of a really significant population...they are just web adept and pretty good at self promotion.

The history of "The Rapture" is quite interesting and enlightening. It is not an original Biblical concept (Rapturist make a really big stretch to make that connection). it has only been around since the early to mid 1800's.

Plus alot of the writitngs concerning the Biblical apocalypse (specifically the Book of Revelations) is considered, by many biblical scholars, as more of a commentary of the current and recent history than as a futuristic/prophetic vision. The concurrent culture in that area (Jewish) also had its share of apocalyptic writings - revolving around the destruction of Herod's Temple in Jerusalem which the Jews viewed with much wailing and gnashing of teeth and, its destruction was viewed, again, as hearlding the end of the world (from the Jewish POV).

32. The difference is,
I've never met people who are really familiar with things like the Illuminati and Bilderbergers and the like, but I've met many, many people in my life who believe in a literal interpretation of the Bible and also believe in the Rapture.

31. You're right about that
Since I was a child in the stone age in Texas, my parents took us to
tent revivals where all we heard about was the horror that was to
come, except for those that were "saved". The humongous Baptodomes
around here preach that kind of stuff all the time. In society,
you're not anybody unless you faithfully attend a Baptodome.

When they're not at the Dome, they watch TBN and they obsess
on the coming rapture. They gleefully talk about what will happen
to the wicked - people like me, an agnostic, but takes care of
stray and hurt critters, buys food for the food bank, helps
anyone I see on the street who appears to be in distress, and
adopts soldiers.

They are not fringe around here.

They are very vocal, and have friends in the government and the military. They are zealots, and thus very dangerous.

coming. Our country will just be beat down to a third world status with a big military. Totally against anything Christian. Makes you think.

20. Are there really such people???
All I do is read about them here, I've never seen one on TV or in person. I must live in the wrong part of the Bible belt. I've visited 20 maybe 30 churches and have never heard anyone pray for the apocolypse. It may be because anyone schooled in real religion understands it's not up to you or I. 3 billion people praying in sync won't bring it on, I promise you that.
