Bush: Loose Cannon at G8. Drunk and stupid, or just stupid?
Edited on Mon Jul-17-06 10:28 PM by smoogatz
First there's the ludicrous little lecture of Putin, and Putin's bitchslap in response. Then there's the very public use of the word "shit" at a luncheon attended by world leaders--not to mention his simple-minded (and wrong-headed) take on the politics of the Middle East. And now the soon-to-be-infamous Merkel massage/assault. Most of us here at DU (dumbass freeper trolls excepted, as always) have known all along that Bush is 200 lbs of moron straining at the seams of a 180 lb bag; but this is idiocy of an altogether different order. It's public, it's out of control, and it's performed in stark contrast to the relatively sane and sober behavior of the other G8 attendees. It's always interesting to watch a public personality jump the shark like this--and in this case it's frightening, too; a bit like rubbernecking the grisly aftermath of a highway wreck. It's really, really not a good thing if the President of the most powerful nation on earth is coming unglued in front of God and everyone. Drunk, stupid, or batshit crazy? My guess--it's the combo platter, folks. Hang on to your hats--it gets worse before it gets better.

1. The expression on his face in the beer bottle Putin meeting and the
Merkel massage face are the same. Slack-jawed drunk.

Drunk out of his gourd.

2. It's pretty tough to be that stupid without being drunk.
Or whacked out on oxycontin or 'ludes or God knows what else -- maybe Haldol or Thorazine. Ordinary, garden-variety stupidity wouldn't produce such bizarre, assclownish behavior.

3. Wow! Cue Twilight Zone music...
I just posted about the Merkel incident and the freeps' response to it. And, like you, I used the words "batshit crazy," and actually made a "combo platter" reference!

7. I think they've got him all drugged up.
He hates doing the summit thing, and he's been known to get testy with the media when he has to acknowledge their existence.

So they mix up a special gubmint-issue cocktail of mood elevators and stimulants and turn him loose on the world.

He. is. one. drugged-up. Mofo.

17. That's what I've been saying all along: he's overmedicated
I think they give him something to wake him up, something to make him concentrate during the day and something to help him sleep.

They just can't get the dosages right.

If only he were just drinking...

is no way to go through life"? I was thinking that very thing this evening - he has to be drinking again (if he indeed ever did stop...). And for God's sake, didn't his mother teach him NOT to talk with his mouth full? Complaining that summit attendees "talk too much"? What a colossal embarrassment.

11. Bush has acted weird throughout his miserable life
Edited on Mon Jul-17-06 11:17 PM by aint_no_life_nowhere
Remember the story about his performance on the Board of Directors of Carlyle Group and how he was fired after being told that he only showed up to tell dirty jokes?

Or there's the incident when he was Governor of Texas and appeared on the David Letterman show. During the commercial breaks, the cameras caught him several times grabbing the coat of the show's producer Maria Pope and using it as a kleenex to clean his glasses.

The video of the incident is right here:

http://politicalhumor.about.com/cs/bushvideos/v/bushkleenex.htm

There's the incident when he gave the camera the finger when he didn't realize he was being filmed. There's the "major league asshole" comment while he didn't realize the mic was on. I also recall seeing a photograph of Bush at the back of a bus giving young girls the finger as he drove through a town on the campaign trail in 2004 when the girls displayed an anti-Bush sign. He was weird even back in his teens. Here's that famous New York Times photo of George Bush in cheerleader drag:

George Bush is a very, very strange man and has always been strange.

12. Drunk, drunk, and more drunk.
It's hard to believe, but after his behavior the last few days, I can't think of any other way to explain his behavior: slouching, slurring, piggishness with Blair, and then accosting Merkel, with what seems like the immobile "drunk face." Like you said, this is PUBLIC! And he's among leaders of other powerful countries! And there are wars all over the place!

He is not right. Not. Right.

19. The "naughty word" isn't important
Edited on Mon Jul-17-06 11:40 PM by ocelot
except to the extent it shows he's a potty-mouth who doesn't know how to behave in public (and chews with his mouth open, too), instead of a Godly, Christian man who wouldn't use inappropriate language, like the Christo-fascist zombie brigades who adore him so much believe. The important thing is that he has once again proved that there's something very wrong with him, beyond merely being a bit dim -- whether it's alcohol, drugs or dementia -- and that he can't seem to keep from behaving boorishly, regardless of the company he's in. I don't especially care that he said "shit," but I do care that we have a "president" who makes an ass of himself every time he goes out in public.

22. It's the context, my friend.
I don't give a good goddamn what he says in private, to his wife, or to that strap-on wielding dominatrix of his down in Texas. But when he's out in the world representing me, I'd really rather he didn't behave like a total assclown. You, apparently, have no problem with him pissing all over the dignity of his office, and America's public image.

21. When he laughed publicly about the condemned woman in Texas,

I knew there was shit-for-brains and worked against his election. He hasn't changed; the packaging has lost it's shine.
