Ok, so Katrina couldn't take this admin. down. Maybe the pay-for-yourself |
|
delayed evacuation from Lebanon will. Notice we don't hear as much complaint about this as we did about the lack of buses in NO.

1. It's hardly the government's responsibility to evacuate you from |
|
a foreign country you went to yourself.

A part of me says the US is supposed to protect its citizens where ever they may be
Yes, the State Department has probably had warnings about travel to Lebanon, but it isn't exactly a popular tourist spot. I'd bet most of the Americans there are on business or visiting family.

4. The problem is that our |
|
government can't figure out how to get its citizens out and is still working on it while everyone else has gotten their citizens out days ago. There was a time where it could of and would of been done without a thought. And US citizens would of been some of the first ones out. Just another sign of how much bushco has destroyed and how incompetent they really are.

5. Anderson Cooper has commented on |

it and I've heard from the TV at least a couple of phone calls from Americans in Lebanon expressing some frustration with the lack of help.
No, not like Katrina, but I'm glad that some of this is getting through. This is a serious situation, and each day that goes by increases the danger for them. They are, unfortunately, very valuable "commodities" for a number of people, politically. :-(

6. we don't hear as much complaint because you know going in |
|
i live in new orleans, trust me, when you get your health check up, they're all on your ass at least at oschner to tell you why the state dept. don't want any american going where you're going
so you know going in, and it's up to you to purchase evac/repatriation insurance -- or no
but you do know going in that there is a risk
the lack of buses in new orleans is different and i'm too tired to hash that out again, but let's leave it at...you have a right as a usa citizen to live where you were born...PM me and nag me and when i'm more energetic i can go over this again abt the buses
