New DU Group - Directors' Group/Guild?
For those DU'ers who appreciate making films as well as the structure of making films (such as editing, storyboarding etc.)

Did you ever wanted to make your own movies?

Were you the kid who was always playing with your parents video camera?

Did you ever consider going big?

Did you ever go to class thinking "How would this be played out on film?"

Were you able to learn your parents' camera before they did? Are your friends in the movie business?

If so, then maybe we should form a group.

1. I second the motion...
Personally, I'm surprised no one thought of this before. And there certainly are filmmakers here -- several years ago, I recruited some of them to help me de-freep another filmmaking board that had been taken over by Bush-can-do-no-wrong types just after the start of the Iraq war.

FWIW, here's my IMDb profile.

2. Another Vote For It
I like a well-made movie - wish they were more common.

I wouldn't necessarily be a participant - out of my depth - but it's a great idea.

3. I think it would be helpful.
Sometimes when I'm cutting a movie, I don't know how to achieve a certain effect. I wouldn't mind going to DU first. I'd also like to see what other filmmakers on DU are up to.

4. I vote for it

I'm an indiefilmmaker and my next movie is a statement on politics.

It would be great if there was a place here for democratic filmmakers to unite.

I'd put my imdb up profile but I think anonymity is important considering who is in office. I really believe if some of the rw nazis fully got their way they really would imprison liberals. The filmmakers, writers and artists would be the first to go.

5. I'm all in for that idea
I have been experimenting in editing.

Worked on a short in the summer of 04. I used mushroom clouds and morphed the Bush Regime/Cartels heads imploding into the mushroom clouds. Very eerie and disturbing effect. The Title "Mushroom Clouds Smoking Guns", it came about after my frustration with the war in Iraq and how we were lied into believing the lies of "WE DON'T WANT THE SMOKING GUN TO TURN INTO A MUSHROOM CLOUD." If you recall Mad king Boy George and Condisleeza Rice used that language to scare us.

I have been learning Final Cut Pro 5, after upgrading from 4. So, it would helpful and beneficial for us self taught movie makers!
