2. Good for you.
I was thinking of doing the same thing, but I couldn't bear the thought of voting Republican. Yesterday, as my wife and I were running down the street, I spit on every Republican sign I could see.

6. That's nothing to be ashamed of
It's become an institution here in California. (You have to be registered "declined to state" i.e. not affiliated with a party cross over in primaries.)

There's a lot of people here who would like to buy you a drink. Not only should you not feel bad about this, every Georgia DUer who can should do what you just did. God knows we can't depend on the rank and file Georgians.

10. I was just about to walk over to the polling station
and was thinking that I would do the same. I'm a bit conflicted for two reasons. I believe that every vote should be FOR a person or the less bad of two choices. And secondly, I would actually be interested to see how Georgia reacts to a Ralph Reed candidacy. If he were to win, then the state of Georgia would get what it deserves.

13. I considered voting Republican against Reed but I just can't do it.
Edited on Tue Jul-18-06 09:40 AM by CottonBear
I think we Democrats have a better chance against Reed than Cagle. I detest both of them, but Cagle is more electable than Reed. And yes, if GA elects Reed in the general election, then GA Republicans will get what they deserve.

I'm about to go and vote now. I'll check back in later today. I've made my final choices for the Democratic primary and I'm going to vote and hope for the best.

14. There is no party registration in GA. You just ask for the R ballot.
You then have to vote in the R runoff. However, you can vote for any party in the general election.

24. Wrong, I had to check Democrat or Republican
on a form I had to fill in before I could vote. And my ballot did not include any of the county incumbents because they were all Republican.

26. Registration and voting in a partisan primary are two different things.
There is no party registration in Georgia. Registration is when one signs up to vote at the local board of elections office and later receives a voter registration card. It is not a partisan process.

15. Yes, I'm guessing that GA is like here - VA?
Because we don't have to declare a party, we can vote in either primary. It goes both ways though (Republicans can show up and vote in Democratic Primaries). ;)

Good for you! Now go take a shower. <tease>

16. You don't have to register Republican
you just check a box on the sign in form....this is how they defeated Mckinney a couple of years ago.
