Nearly 6 000 die in Iraq in May, June
Nearly 6 000 civilians were killed in Iraq during the two months of May and June, according to a report prepared by UN Assistance Mission for Iraq, released on Tuesday.

"A total of 5 818 civilians were reportedly killed and at least 5 762 wounded during May and June 2006," the human rights report said.

It said "killings, kidnappings and torture remain widespread in Iraq and the number of civilians killed continues to grow", adding that 244 women and 71 children were killed during these two months.

Most of the victims were killed in Baghdad.

1. That's a 9/11 almost every 30 days.
Maybe a moon cycle should be abbreviated "9/11" in Iraq. Maybe Bu$h should mention this figure when trotting out his specious connections of Iraq to 9/11. We lost 3000 on one day five years ago (and horrible it was!), and Iraq loses 3000 a month nowadays (which is another horror that did not have to be). More blood on the filthy hands of the vapid little "war" president.

be Occupied Iraq?

In a country with only 25 million people, the fact that the occupying power, the USA, can not maintain law and order is total bullshit. Instead we drop thermobaric weapons on their houses.
