Bush to finally meet with NAACP
"WASHINGTON (Reuters) -- After a five-year absence, President Bush will appear before the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the nation's oldest civil rights organization, the White House announced Tuesday.

His speech on Thursday comes as his Republican Party tries to court black voters ahead of critical congressional elections in November and almost a year after the Bush administration was widely criticized for failing to help the poor and black communities in New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Katrina."

1. Surely their members recognize why he's doing this!
I'll be interested to see what kind of reception he gets!

5. Pandering, pandering, pandering. At least black people are smart enough
to see through this bullshit as what it is. . .an attempt at a lip service courting of black people by a man and a party that hates and abandoned blacks shortly after Lincoln was assassinated.

11. Unfortunately, yesterday I heard the NAACP leader still saying he wanted
Shrub to come! I don't understand why? I understand sending the initial invitation, out of political courtesy, but why would they almost beg?

10. I think he should be given the silent treatment. Rise when he

enters the room. Greet him with NO APPLAUSE. Give him NO APPLAUSE throughout his speech no matter how hard he panders. And then rise politely when he exits.

I think the smirking asshole would come unglued -- he's not far from doing so anyway.

12. Booosh at NAACP?
I e-mailed their HQ last week and hoped they would NOT invite * -
the best message would be to not attend at all, or turn their backs
or wear headphones. Some clever person might come up with a
good protest hat or sash or something! Make him SEE what the
majority of us Americans, of ALL colors, think of his incompetent,
stooopid, lyin' ass...c'mon NAACP, do the correct thing here!

13. Meeting, huh?
If he thinks that the Black vote will increase with a so-called meeting with the NAACP, after the bad blood for what, 5+ years? LOLOL! Okay? What we as Democrats should seriously take into account is that the platforms and issues we've been standing on needs to be updated. We're trying to get back in the WH, not stand out in the cold for another 4-8 years!:patriot:
