2. Yes, I think it was Kennedy. They said it was the 2nd time in 2 days.
Temp is 95 and the heat index makes it feel like 97. ConEd is asking people not to use washing machines, dryers, etc. They're even asking they don't use their A/C, but THAT'S not going to happen!

4. From cnn.com:
Power outages interrupt train, air service in New York

NEW YORK (CNN) -- Scattered power outages in New York inconvenienced tens of thousands of travelers Tuesday as Con Edison struggled to meet high demand for power in the face of sweltering temperatures. ...

At LaGuardia Airport in Queens, hundreds of passengers became stranded at 8 a.m. Tuesday, when power outages interrupted security screening at the Marine Terminal and darkened part of the main terminal.

Delta Air Lines canceled flights in its shuttle operation to Washington and Boston, Massachusetts, which is run out of the Marine Terminal on the airport's west side, said spokesman Anthony Black. ...

At the main terminal, hundreds of American Airlines passengers were stranded by power outages. The airline canceled all of its flights scheduled to depart from the airport until 5 p.m., and said its representatives were meeting with Con Edison representatives to determine the cause of the problem.

A spokesman for Port Authority of New York & New Jersey, which runs the region's three metropolitan airports, said the power failure in the main terminal occurred at 8 a.m., and followed another power failure from 8:30 p.m. Monday until 12:30 a.m. today. ...

5. Our Travel Department just said LaGuardia is still having
power problems. ConEd (the local power company) is out there working on some cable issues apparently. So this might not be a simple issue of high usage causing a brown-out.

6. here's some news
Power problems persisted at LaGuardia Airport, where a Con Edison feeder cable was being repaired Tuesday. The problem was affecting the terminal for American Airlines and the Delta Shuttle.

Delta canceled at least two flights and American Airlines canceled its flights through 5 p.m. Tuesday, said Port Authority of New York and New Jersey spokesman Pasquale DiFulco. Power was off at the Marine Air Terminal, where the Delta Shuttle departs, but there were no major delays. The power outage began at 8:30 p.m. It was expected to be fixed Tuesday afternoon.

On Monday, Con Ed worker Lou Velez had been outside since 7 a.m. with two others working on power lines as more and more customers flicked on their air conditioners.

8. Well, minus the bomb craters in the runways.
I've been hearing about the brownouts in Queens all morning. I hadn't realized it had affected the airports.
