Conservatives hiring people to work on campuses to
take them back from the liberals. I heard this on the radio the other day and they referenceed a certain website for information . Did anyone happen to catch the website. As I understood it the plan is to go nationwide challenging faculty who oppose the Bush Administation and policies.

.... a class comment that got his teacher suspended.
Turns out that the rest of the student body, the faculty and the PTA supported the teacher..... I wish I could remember specifics..... the teacher compared * to hitler.

3. Scaife has funded "campus conservative clubs" for decades
making sure they're headed by reliably wingnut 30 somethings, so this is nothing new. It just sounds like they may be stepping up the brownshirt actions against anyone who tries to teach anything.

5. It's a fool's errand

Modern US popular conservatism go against the concepts of the Enlightenment and the philosophy of empiricism, both of which are a staple part of the Humanities and the Sciences. The only arena where conservatives would find likely allies would be in the business and economics classes, but majority support even here would not be guaranteed. To 'convert' the campus from liberal to conservative would require culture-wide changes in epistemology, which would see the rebranding of the notions of critical thinking and scientific method as "false", and replace those epistemological constructs with the ideals of authority, oligarchy, hierarchy, obedience and nationalism.

6. Liberal Campuses
The thing about this whole fight between conservatives and liberal professors is the fact that if conservatives do succeed in bringing more balance to the college environment (which probably is needed, in all honesty), it will probably only result in reverse discrimination. Instead of college campuses being too liberal, and not tolerating a more conservative viewpoint, they will be too conservative and not tolerate liberal views.

Either situation is not good for learning environments. More balance is needed, but the answer is not to ask professors to answer for their beliefs. Simply hire more conservative professors and crack down on anti-intellectual, non-tolerant policies.
