If Embryos needed to be evacuated from the Middle East
Edited on Tue Jul-18-06 05:48 PM by DanCa
Would they have to pay for being rescued from the horrors of stem cell research?
:sarcasm:

1. "Christian Commandos" would parachute in and save them........
Actually, maybe every American should carry a cooler stocked with frozen embryos to increase the chances of being helped by BushCo.

5. Let's get this straight....
these people can afford to go to Lebanon. They can afford to go to college or stay drunk in the local nightclubs, whatever situation took them over. But when the shit hits the fan, they're all suddenly too broike to get the hell out?

Why should tax money pay for their rescue? they got their on their own, of their own free will. They should pay for transport out.

18. No, it's not Katrina. The Americans in Lebanon are not
poor welfare recipients who can't afford to leave. They're well off enough to go there for college or to party in the clubs. They can afford to pay to get out.

How were they originally planning on leaving? Buying plane tickest out. Now, the only difference is who they're paying.

37. the only difference?
wrong.

Most had no doubt already paid for their return tickets. Moreover, the promissory notes don't specify an amount to be repaid, only a term of 90 days. If you can't see any differences, you're not looking very carefully.

More importantly, we allowed this to happen to a nation that we knew to contain lots of US citizens. It's incumbent upon us to safely evacuate our citizens when we allow our proxy to prosecute this attack against its neighbor which is hosting so many Americans.

Why do you want to compound suffering in a place that's already suffering? I don't understand this, and I believe Xultar was kind with his/her alternate universe comments. Please don't be hateful toward people who just want to go home.

low-life slackers who deserve to get blowed-the-fuck-up if they don't find their own way out when there is
no airport
a sea blockade
no safe roads

17. Why should we fly Osoma's family to safety after 9/11? I see more logic
in bringing home our own and making sure they are safe. That is the one reason for a federal government. Maybe if this same concern was paid to the dying stranded in the wake of Katrina you might not be so resistant to spending fed funds to save these people. I thought that if we had better foreign intelligence, travelers could have been warned about the danger of this flareup happening, and there would be less vacationers in harms way.

Sorry, I'm rambling a bit, but I get so frustrated about the sloppy why the Republicans are running this country.

They don't have a "pay or you stay" policy here. If they can afford to travel all over the world, they can certainly afford to come home.

I'm not esistant to spending the funds, I just think the funds should be reimbursed.

would you be so worried about reimbursement? And so... you think we will be reimbursed for the billions we are spending to supposedly deliver Iraqi's to safety and freedom. Let's get our citizens home from all war zones. We will save all kinds of money!

60. We don't know how many had already bought tickets out...
We also don't know whether they can afford to "travel all over the world." Some might be paying a visit to the land their families came from, and not on some world travel junket. Some may have gotten round trip tickets which are no good with the airports being destroyed.

Why prejudge people who are in harm's way? Wouldn't the decent thing to do be to bring our fellow citizens home? We can damn well spend billions paying Halliburton's inflated bills, let's take care of our own, as well. I'm not going to prejudge my fellow citizens and decide, with no facts to back me up, that they are all wealthy world travelers, who are trying to gouge the taxpayers for leaving a war-zone.

and I don't have nearly the physical issues you have to deal with. Good to see you again, fighting the good fight. While I know that stem cell research is rightfully one of your pet issues, it fits into the whole "taking care of each other" paradigm that we have here and that the Repugs tend to lack completely. I think the rugged individuality meme they have is just a cover for very bad, selfish behavior.
