Israeli Girls write Messages on Lebanon- bound Rockets

Israeli girls write on shells
AP / Sebastian Scheiner

Israeli girls write messages on a shell at a heavy artillery position near Kiryat Shmona, in northern Israel, next to the Lebanese border, Monday, July 17, 2006. Diplomatic efforts to end Israeli-Hezbollah fighting gained traction Monday, with Israeli officials saying the country would agree to halt fighting if its two captured soldiers were returned and Islamic guerrillas withdrew from the border. Publicly, the officials continued to insist their goal was to dismantle Hezbollah. But senior aides to Prime Minister Ehud Olmert office said he told his Italian counterpart, Romano Prodi, that Israel would accept cease-fire terms of Hezbollah releasing the Israeli soldiers and withdrawing from the border.

A nauseating sign of the times:

Pre-teen Israeli girls at a heavy artillery position in Northern Israel are photographed apparently gleefully scrawling their names and other inscriptions on shells destined to be dropped on Lebanon. One reads “Nazrala with love”—a reference to Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasarallah.

Isn't that special! Nice little Israeli terrorists in waiting.

7. Murder is killing
I refuse to give the 'state' the right to decide which killing is justified and which is not in the case of war. You get my point.

8. i do -- but it's not thou shalt not kill.
it's thou shalt not commit murder -- and i'm sorry there is a diff.

we live in a universe of eat and be eaten -- something like the commandments would reflect that brutal reality -- and that is it.

i'm merely making a case for some kind of exactness regarding a phrase that is often gotten wrong.

that's all. -- other wise i don't care.

Baby bomber picture sparks new war of words

A furious row has erupted between the Israelis and Palestinians over the release by the Israeli army of a startling photograph showing a Palestinian five-month-old child dressed up as a suicide bomber.

It doesn't matter if Osama himself is firing those missiles at her. She's asking her parents to retaliate in kind against Lebanese civilians described as terrorist sympathizers. That sort of thinking is Al Quaedaism.

So was the messages we wrote on bombs during the firebombing in WWII -- also a form of Al Quaedaist terrorism on a mass scale -- acts which were considered war crimes (mass bombing) until the US did it (and Defense Secretary Robert McNamara suggested that they remain war crimes to this day.)

14. Let's first spend seven days in a bomb shelter...

... and have our homes and all the people we love shot at, and then we'll be able to have a better understanding of where this is all coming from... Teaching children to hate is being done on both sides and you know it, in fact, suidcide bombers as young as 8 have been sent over to Israel to do the adult's dirty deeds. It's disgusting both ways, but please, let's just tell both sides of the story, shall we? Stop pretending this is only one-sided...

18. For Pete's sake, ALL WE GET IS THE ISRAELI SIDE!
The corporated media and both political parties bow to Israel's wishes. Don't give me this "other side" crap.

If Israel gives up it's occupation of ALL Palestinian land and starts treating the Palestinians and it's neighbors as human beings, they won't have to go to their bomb shelters. Until then, the killing will go on.

23. unreal the disconnect...........
two sided?? Of course you're right, but we already know the Israeli side of things. We've been inundated with it for decades. How can you possibly talk about two sides to this profound issue given the reality of how it's covered by our press?
