Can we preemptively sue Ann Coulter? |
|
I raised the question earlier of whether Coulter could be held liable if one of her readers were ever influenced to take up arms against liberals, gays, and/or Muslims. Now that she has actually claimed to have participated in terra ("I send anthrax to the NY Times") she should not only be sued, but sent to Gitmo. We all know that's the very least that would happen if Michael Moore said the same thing about Fox News. Can we preemptively file a class-action suit against her for actively trying to inspire violence in Americans before her disgusting speech unleashes another Timothy McVeigh on us?

1. I think the Times should sue her. |
|
They were the target of her claim, and should take her down.

2. You can blame Will & Grace and violent video games... |
|
but you can't blame politcians or pundits for things people do wrong.
Otherwise, Rush Limbaugh would have been sued by the survivors of the Oklahoma City Bombing.

6. I had thought that would be the only problem |
|
A suit against Coulter would be similar to cases against movie/videogame makers over school shootings, which no one has ever won before. The difference is, unlike Nintendo and Time Warner Inc., Coulter actually WANTS to cause violence against those she hates.

7. First of all, she's already dazed... |
|
secondly, she's probably bloodless.
And thirdly, raping her would torture yourself.
That is, if you could find the right opening. I don't think she has ANY opening in her body, other than her mouth.

10. Can't sue someone for being a nasty, disgraceful, pretend "commentator" |
|
Ann Coulter is symptomatic of how deep American culture and political discourse have sunk into the mire, but it's ridiculous to blame her if, in the hypothetical case, one of her fans goes on a rampage. The First Amendment does protect Coulter's right to open her filthy mouth without fear of repercussion.
If she slanders someone, she can be sued. And given the kinds of things she says and writes, it's quite possible she's already done that. As it is, she may be facing lawsuits for plagiarizing other writers' works.

And so are her groupies. If you don't know how to start, I can offer advice.
