Who said Bush did not consult with the Israelis?
Who said that the Israelis did not need the approval of George W Bush or the United States? Well, it appears that might be exactly what happened. Even when Dubya was playing "straight man" with all his buddies at the G8 conference, he knew what was happening all along, it now appears...

Bush 'gave green light' for limited attack, say Israeli and UK sources

<snip>
The US is giving Israel a window of a week to inflict maximum damage on Hizbullah before weighing in behind international calls for a ceasefire in Lebanon, according to British, European and Israeli sources.

The Bush administration, backed by Britain, has blocked efforts for an immediate halt to the fighting initiated at the UN security council, the G8 summit in St Petersburg and the European foreign ministers' meeting in Brussels.

"It's clear the Americans have given the Israelis the green light. They will be allowed to go on longer, perhaps for another week," a senior European official said yesterday. Diplomatic sources said there was a clear time limit, partly dictated by fears that a prolonged conflict could spin out of control.

<snip>
The US is publicly denying any role in setting a timeframe for Israeli strikes. When asked whether the US was holding back diplomatically, Tony Snow, the White House's press spokesman, said yesterday: "No, no; the insinuation there is that there is active military planning, collaboration or collusion, between the United States and Israel - and there isn't ... the US has been in the lead of the diplomatic efforts, issuing repeated calls for restrain,t but at the same time putting together an international consensus. You've got to remember who was responsible for this: Hizbullah ... It would be misleading to say the United States hasn't been engaged. We've been deeply engaged."

1. Sounds like Tony Snow's settled into his job nicely.
Lying his ass off and making it sound like it's your privilege to be hearing him perform.

3. i am particularly impressed with...
...Junior's claim "it is in our interest...for this government of Lebanon to succeed and survive"...which clearly explains why Israel is being given at least one more week to bomb the bejesus out of everything the Lebanonese needs to govern...like an army, air- and sea-ports, a transportation and communication network; an electrical grid, a water/sewer system, pharmaceutical plants, milk-processing facilities, etc., etc., etc. Rove has served up any number of "texas shit sandwiches" in the past six years, but this one just might be the whopper of them all.

5. So Israel will stop bombing when the US asks them to?
Is that what they are saying? And did they start bombing because the US asked them to, also? This is a very disturbing story to me...

6. What will happen if
bush gets attacked by another pretzel and forgets to tell them to stop?

At least it took people's mind off Iraq.

8. If what was posted in another thread, comes to pass,
Turkey will be crossing into Iraqi Kurdistan. I don't know if bush will like Turkey horning in on his "thing."

I guess if Turkey ask bush nicely he will let them kill a few people and destroy some villages. Not sure if he will allow any plundering. Somebody else might had dibbs on the plundering of Kurdistan.
