Poll question: The I/P Discussion Rules Breaking Down: Good Thing, or Bad Thing?
Leaving aside the reason for them breaking down, in your opinion is the I/P discussion rules breaking down (specifically, stuff about Israel being posted everywhere on DU, rather than being shuffled off to some restrictive forum) a good thing, or a bad thing?

1. norml, there is no way what's going on now can be contained. We
love news, history, etc., this is news.

I just wish I knew what was going on in Iraq more, for better or for worse.

3. Have to differ
This issue is central to US international policy. It effects almost every move that the US makes. Relegating it to the basement ignores its profiund impact on many other issues.

6. But what are the rules? Some threads get banished to the basement...
some don't.

Mods, as I have asked earlier...we could use some guidance here.

8. Well, it currently is an current event issue
rather than an ongoing specific issue between say the Israeli government and the Palestinian Authority or something like that. It's event based concerning current actions by Hezbollah and the Israeli response and contains other players such as Syria, Lebanon, and also Iranian influence of Hezbollah plus other nations response to the conflict. It should be here and LBN at least.

10. It's no longer Israel/Palestine -- it's Lebanon, Syria, Iran
The issue at the moment is no longer just Israel/Palestine, nor is the current crisis geographically contained within Israel, the West Bank and Gaza.

It is also the biggest news story of the day. For both these reasons, it is no longer appropriately confined to the I/P forum.
