IDF: Hezbollah may have drone laden with explosives
http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/739930.html

In a Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee meeting conducted on Monday, Military Intelligence officials announced that the Hezbollah could surprise the Israel Defense Forces with the launching of an unmanned drone laden with 40 kilograms of explosives and a Global Positioning System.

The Hezbollah could detonate the explosives as far as several tens of kilometers south of the northern Israeli border, the officials said.

The IDF Chief of Staff Dan Halutz said at the committee meeting that the IDF is trying to prevent such a launching, but "it is difficult."

He pointed out the fact that the Fajr rockets that have fallen on Haifa and Tiberias in the last few days contain more explosive power than the aforementioned drone.

The Military Intelligence official also said at the meeting that the IDF thwarted this week an attempt to transport weapons from Syria to Lebanon. He said that the Hezbollah is preparing for a possible IDF infantry incursion into South Lebanon by setting up anti-tank positions, positioning snipers, and placing mines along traffic routes

3. Different kind of drone...
A drone or more properly a UAV has interactive control system and is expected to return. What they are describing is poor mans cruise missile built out of a UAV.

Hezbollah reportedly flew a recon UAV equipped with a camera over Israel a while back. It would not take much to replace the payload with a high yield explosive. What many people may not realize is that a lot of damage is caused by a warhead penetrating the target before it detonates. To do that it requires speed and hardness. A UAV being used as a cruise missile will have neither of those qualities. However, since it will be GPS aided and possible even have an operator steering it, it will be able to get quite close to whatever target it chooses (unless it gets shot down).
