New Release Bush Approval State Polls (SurveyUSA)
Edited on Wed Jul-19-06 02:42 AM by longship
What's interesting is the movements from the 2004 election results.
In spite of what some of the recent national polls are saying, these state polls show some heavy stuff is happening politically in this country.

In particular, Ohio sticks out like a sore thumb. Bush approval at 33%, the lowest of any state which voted for Chimp in 2004. (Well, ignoring the Blackwell factor.) Next Bush state is Missouri at 36%.

The bottom of the approval heap? Rhode Island at a piddly 23%, followed by Vermont and Massachusetts at 27%.

The top of the heap? Only three at or above 50%. Utah at 57%, Idaho at 54%, and Wyoming at an even 50%.

Weighted average is 37%.

SurveyUSA Tracking Poll for 18 Jul 2006

Just for people's general information.

5. A new Rasmussen poll has Chafee trailing Whitehouse by 5%
so *Bush's* poll number are the least of his worries.

7. Woohoo, Rhode Island, still number 1 in disapproval.
I was born in Newport and the majority of my family is still in Rhode Island. It is always nice to go back home and be with like minded people. Florida is making gains though. Not the area where I live, but overall.

3. I guess fewer folks are interested in havin' a beer with Dubya.
And these numbers may have been compiled prior to the pig roast and assault-massage on Bush's recent trip.

13. That should be good for another 3 points or so...drop.
This should firm up Bush's ceiling well south of 40%. What a legacy...from 90% approval to 35% in 3 years. Now that's hard work.

4. These polls are meaningless now
Sorry, I'm not going to get excited over these polls after Bush has won two terms in office and the Senate now has 55 Republicans. Bush is still going to veto the stem cell bill today and there's nothing we can do to stop that.

In fact, I refuse to get excited until November of 2008.

And when an animal is wounded that is when it's at it's most dangerous.

21. serious problem with our democracy--we were browbeaten about
impeaching clinton, and it never broke 40%. MSM never talks about impeachment, but polls for it are over 50%.

Something's got to give.

17. I hope Howard Dean looks at this.
The red states with the big jumps---Kentucky disapproval up 16%!!!---should be the first to go after in that 50 states initiative.

20. Don't want to be a buzzkill....
The polls may be interesting, but I wouldn't put much stock in them as to determining actual election results in midterm elections.

Give me the same polls in regards to leading Democrats such as Al Gore, Clinton, or Kerry. These still wouldn't mean anything as far as midterm elections, but you will understand why the above polls are just going to make many relax when you indeed shouldn't be.

22. I'd love to hear from DUers living outside the US
Are people around the world aware that Bush is tremendously unpopular here, or do they think that a majority of Americans still like him?

24. What's with these figures?
I looked at the numbers for Iowa and these jumped out:

18% of "liberal" voters APPROVE.

WTF? One cannot be both a liberal (or a Dem) and approve of Bush at the same time. Or perhaps we're seeing the beginnings of a new psychiatric disorder - the "Lieberman Personality Disorder".

And look at this breakdown of those who APPROVE:

Grade School and No College: 34% and 26% respectively
Some College: 39%
College: 50%

As education goes up, so does stupidity??? These figures seem inconsistent with the notion that the Bush hard-core are the least educated among us.

26. Tie the rest of the Rethugs to his coattails and drop anchors on the lot
of them. The whole Republican Party needs to be discredited in the eyes of the non-backwash.
