Can you point me the thread that originated the "Agent Mike" legend?
I googled, but it's hard to find where it really started. Was it all just a joke?

I did find a few interesting links though.

Mike served for sixteen years as a Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and is one of the few agents credited with actually having prevented acts of terrorism before it became the FBI's number one priority.

Back in Gainesville, I cut my teeth developing websites first with my own website, www.agentmike.com, and then as web administrator of the School of Architecture's website at the University of Florida. I held that position for years, until I graduated. After traveling the country for a short time, I returned to Gainesville to create a very successful Ebay business for a local outdoor center and screen printing shop.

Real estate agent Mike Cheney recently acquired 5 brand new townhouse listings located in Whitman, Ma. The open house reception, hosted by Century21 Abigail Adams, is open to all local real estate offices.

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice arrives at Findel International Airport in Luxembourg, while Michael Evanoff, Diplomatic Security Special Agent-in-Charge of the Secretary of State's protective detail, coordinates security arrangements.

Detective Kevin Wiens of the Fresno County, California, Sheriff’s Department and Special Agent Mike Prado of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Fresno, California, were both honored by U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) for their thorough investigation that led to the dismantling of a network of child pornography distributors and the arrests of two child predators.

1. it came from the paranoia of Bev Harris
and the grandiosity. she believed the FBI was reading her DU posts and tapping her phone. so it was her joke to wave to agent mike when she said something she thought was provocative.

15. Yep. That's where I remember it from.
I also remember her saying that she was asked to spy on us by agent Mike. Then she said that just stinks or doesn't smell right, something like that, so she said that we should all meet agent Mike.

It's okay, I'm sure there are agent Mikes out there, but IMHO it isn't the ones who just lurk here that we should be worried about. It's the operatives who try to stir the pot and getting us fighting among ourselves that I despise.

They have found out a long time ago that they can't bullshit us. We know the facts but digging into our Achilles heels is what they do.

2. BevHarris started that.
She claimed there was and Agent Mike who was harrassing her because of her DU posts. No idea if he really exists. Got my theories, though.

Thanks for the information.

I was around back then. I guess maybe I had already tuned Bev out. She totally unloaded on me because I urged her to go on Larry King to expose the stuff. That was when I still believed in her. :(

EDIT: I had spelled "thanks" thinks.

11. Never was sure
If she was lying and exagerating. The interesting thing is, she's the one who started all the "proof" that the machines in Ohio were rigged, and a lot of people here thought she had some real evidence, and sent her money. She didn't have any evidence, she just had speculation and exagerated claims. When people finally caught on that she was scamming us, they stopped believing her, but they continue to believe her story that the machines were rigged, and people still talk about Agent Mike, many without knowing where the story came from.

So even though people think of her as a liar, they still believe what she said. It's one reason I'm skeptical of the rigged machine theories. It's quite possible, but I remember how the story developed, and where the "evidence" came from.

17. If anyone thinks that political websites haven't been "monitored", data
mined, used for perception management, disinfo, PSYOPS, strategic influence and a whole lot more then they are naive, at best.

That is reality, it's not myth nor legend.

19. No doubt, and "Agent Mike" has become a metaphor for that, but
he still was more than likely fictional. Maybe he was meant to be representational, but Bev specifically portrayed him as a real person, and he doesn't seem to have been--or at least not in all the ways she said.

20. I wouldn't disagree with that for a second
In fact, I've posited a theory on here before that that is the precise reason the internet was created by DARPA in the first place... as a tool for domestic intelligence gathering. :tinfoilhat: Not that I necessarily believe that, but I don't necessarily disbelieve it, either. Like I said, it's a theory.
